Honestly, with these new Nanos and the Shuffle there is simply NO competition...these revamps are just what Apple needed, and it did it perfectly...the best of Minis, the best of Nanos...AWESOME..!
The black Nano is gonna be on my shopping list now...GO APPLE!

Sigh. None of the batteries I have for my 12" PowerBook are covered, not even the one that the Apple store recommended I stop using due to the excessive heat (which died 5 days out of warranty and Apple would do nothing about). Sucks.

Haven't joined in the POTD for a while - mostly because I'm still playing with my new strobes. But here's a little camera porn for today, courtesy of those same new strobes - and one of the many relics in my camera closet.

PS ... I still LOVE that camera.

Agreed. That would have been with a bigger cache though. Is there much of a speed bump for the 1.83?
The cache alone doesn't explain that particular benchmark, as overall speed increase clock for clock is only 10%. I haven't seen the 1.83 tested so can't comment.

No its not. There will be live text coverage on MR, and their will be a video of the keynote on apple's site within a couple hours after it ends.
Well that makes sense, as it costs lots of money for developers to attend... why should they show it for free live :) Thanks.

So far I have yet to see an official confirmation from a reputable (read "not-rumour") web site.
The "confirmations" flying around all seem to be the rumour sites referencing each other.
Until I see iLounge or MacWorld get an invitation I won't be getting my hopes up for an secret-Apple-ninja-attack event.
Whilst I agree I am more hopeful given the density and consistency of the rumours. But we have been let down before, so tonight and a week from now will have me glued to the Mac in anticipation.

Good lord, why is Walmart so threatened?
Most of their customers have satellites built into their RVs and wouldn't get movies from Apple anyway.

it seems that there is no longer an option for the "matte" screen, only the glossy one.
That option NEVER existed for MacBooks, only for MacBook Pros.

I seriously doubt this is a major concern ATM for home users with secured wifi access points (and by that, I mean wifi APs that filter MAC addresses). In order for someone to use this exploit, they would undoubtedly have to be on your network..
I thought the point of their claim was that you don't have to be connected to ANY network. As long as the wireless is on (and not necessarily connected to anything), they can connect to the computer.
Whether or not it's true is a separate matter, but it's what they're claiming.

...they had to bring the store down worldwide?
Sometimes I wonder what Apple hires those smart people for, if it's just the morons running their daily business.
Hi,
The store has been up all morning in my country.

Urr no. Sony Vegas had had this sort of pricing for years and is used widely professionally because that was what it was designed for. Do you actually think that being a professional is being about owning a certain piece of software?

Of course! This announcement doesn't have any effect on a MBP release (although the MB may not get the update yet).
iMac and Mini updates today. maybe MBP updates today or this week also? make the media on the 12th all about the iPod and movies.

They may be screwed.
Maybe.....that softly spoken. They are screwed. Sony can't be too happy at this time. Delays in launching products, new product acceptance less than stellar, and while Consumer Electronics was doing a little better than past years, this is setting them back. Hopefully they will learn a lesson and do some more R&D next time.

Last year a girl from the UK (if i remember correctly) wrote a letter to Jack Sparrow that she would love to meet him as she wanted him to lead a mutiny against her teachers.
...and so he did

Funny, I'll bet PeeWee Herman would also do it for free.

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but the new Imac does not qualify you for a free ipod using the current educational promo.

They banned songs like Lucy in the Sky and Ticket to Ride... (not to mention Metallica's Seek and Destroy) because the songs reminded people of the event.
And the lyrics to Daytripper foreshadow 9/11 as well (just change all occurances of the word "she" to "Achmed" and it all becomes crystal clear).
