I know full well that that something similar to this question has been asked many times before, because I've spent the last half hour looking for it. But I can't find the answer to my specific thing.
Okay, basically, in the dock, my computer used to have folders for Applications and Documents. Then, a couple of days ago, I managed to accidentally get rid of them. Now, when I try to drag them back, the icons aren't the same. I know that it's a small, and rather foolish, thing, but I'm a control freak, and it matters.
Before, this icons were like this: http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/9898/screenshot20110424at130.png/http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/9898/screenshot20110424at130.png
Now, they are like this:

Thanks in advance. I hope.

Does that say leet speak? It took me awhile to figure it out. Who types like that anyway? It just takes more time and less people understand you.
I totally and completely couldn't agree mor3. :D

I have dealt with Apple's warranty service and their "geniuses" on multiple occasions. To sum it up, Apple's employees will try to blame you if even the slightest thing is awry (ie a dent). I even remember hearing about a guy who brought in his PowerBook (in the PPC days) for warranty repair, and Apple denied him service because he had a sticker from an orange on the screen bezel.
I recently got a new hybrid bike (no, it is not partially electric or gasoline, it is 100% leg powered) at Sports Authority (SA for short). It was a big mistake purchasing it there instead of my local bike shop, but that's another story. SA put a Schwinn branded tire on the bike. That wouldn't be a problem if it was a Schwinn bike, and it matched the other tire. But no, my bike is a K2 bike. I took it to SA to replace the tire. Long story short: they made up some story as to why it was supposed to come with a Schwinn tire. They denied that it was even the wrong tire. Meanwhile, I contacted K2, who told me that they don't use Schwinn tires and they would be happy to replace the tires and send me better ones with reflective strips painted on the sidewalls of the tires. This was warranty service at its finest. The manufacturer of the product (the bike) not only sent me out replacement parts for something that their distributor screwed up, but they sent me nicer replacement parts than what the bike originally came with! They also expected me to replace the tires myself. This would have been a problem if I didn't have the tools and expertise to do so, but I had those so it was no problem at all. I don't recall ever having a company send me parts to fix my own product (computer, device, gadget, mechanical device, bicycle, etc).

Edit: forgot to mention that when I purchased the bike, the Schwinn logo was covered up my permanent marker, and I noticed the marker there and cleaned it off to reveal the logo. This means that someone purposely covered it up. The treads on both tires had the same pattern, but the Schwinn branded tire was 38mm wide while the rear tire was 35mm wide (correct to the bike's specs on K2's website).

http://ae.tutsplus.com/ - free, all sorts of tutorials
www.lynda.com - not free, but quite good tutorials
www.videocopilot.net - free, but more action orientated tutorials
I second the video copilot site....
Once you go through some of the tutorials you will undertand what can be done and then combine what you are looking to do into your own creations

So the nasty ical is still there? I hope that goes away; it's horrible looking on the desktop. With limited real estate on the screen, all that extra stuff just takes up space...
Still there.. but looking slightly different.

If I do a factory restore, and then restore from backup, will the files just go right back on?

Anyone fancy a tiny jedi?
Awwww... look how tiny he is! So little and cute! OooooOOoo.. he's waving his lightsabers! That's so precious!
I recognize where you got that from... Jedi Academy: Last level?

I'm intrested in buying a AE and I don't know if I need to wait or buy it right now. The last update was in 2009 and apple updates there products like every 6 months. Now a year is past and still no new AE. But there are new things like USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt (things to put in the AE).
Is it wise to wait a while for the new one or not?
Who can clear my mind?

Depends on your budget but I'd definitely look into a Drobo FS. It fully supports time machine backups, although it's performance isn't exactly spectacular (I guess if your using it just for backups and some basic streaming then this shouldn't be much of an issue...).

A week old thread isn't considered "dead" yet, right? ;-)
Here's my bedroom... I'm in the middle of doing a lot of redecorating around the house right now, so it's still a bit bare. I'm waiting until after I re-paint to add a few things... (probably some decorations on the dresser and a table lamp next to the bed) but I'm quite happy with how it's turning out!

Apple claims that a PRAM reset will automatically reset the Power Manager. I've always assumed this Power Manager to be the PMU but I've seen problems not solved with a PRAM reset yet solved with a PMU reset.
How is this so?
Any help is greatly appreciated, as ever. :)
For most things a PRAM reset will solve. It resets a lot of the PMU settings but does not reset charge/discharge defaults.

On WWDC Eve, we at TUAW are hard at work keeping an eye out for the unknown and unexpected. We just received a tip showing what appears to be the Mac Nano computer that we've all wanted -- and it looks to be aimed towards the developer crowd.
The pictures appear to show a Mac geared towards developers on Windows and Linux systems. "Leave Windows behind. Build your Apps for OS X" states the title. While we are extremely cautious about rumors like these right before WWDC, we did have a rumor that a "new Mac" or at least an updated Mac might be released.

Hey guys ! :)
I hope you can help a newbie like me with these questions.. I plan on buying an Imac which will be used for music production with Logic Studio.
The Imac will be connected to a Midi-keyboard and thats it.
Is the 21.5-inch: 2.5GHz base model powerful enough for this? Can it run Logic Studio smoothly without any problems?
I don't really want to upgrade the 21.5 to i7 as it will cost me 700 bucks more, so will it really be worth it to upgrade to i7 ?
Looking forward to your answers.
Thanks
Should be more than enough. But it highly depends on what you do and how you do it.

Option explore sounds in the settings apps, and see if you can reset it there,
Uninstall themes and seen if you regain your sounds...
Do a restore to regain your sounds if all else fails...
Good luck!
Thanks.
I went into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings and that did the job.
I now have audio on the games, clicking keyboard and alerts sound.
