If I remember correctly I needed the jumper on 1.5 for my xserve but I left everything alone on all the other xserves even my g5. I want to say something else about my old trusty g5....it have a slightly faster network transfer rate than all my other xserves
OK I tried a 3tb Hitachi in my 2009 xserve and it only reports 2.2tb, so I think 2.2 is the limit.

People! Do we really want these people getting their mits on the beautiful iPod? Look at this pic from their home page... the 'average' Dell user puts their keyboard on top of the fruit bowl!
The mother is helping the daughter look up the words "profit" and "margin" in the dictionary. Somewhere where Apple will make more money per iPod than Dell will on some consumer PCs perhaps!:phttp://www.fourdegree.com/images/dim4550_8250.jpg

I've learned over time that zooming is really something you shouldn't do often. So many people think they can make amazing videos by zooming in and out all the time when really the zooming just hurts them. The panning and tilting was nice but needs to be much smoother and also I'd recommend not using copyrighted music without the proper permissions.

[edit: looks like bwawn beat me to it, and his way of doing it is probably better unless you have Terminal-ophobia ;)]
Firstly (and obviously) make sure Classic isn't running.
Also, did you try logging in as root? If you don't have a root account, it's pretty simple to create one using NetInfo Manager (in your Applications-->Utilities folder).
If you got your Mac in 2002 or earlier, you can start up from an OS 9 CD, and I'm pretty sure you could delete the 9 system folder from there, without having to deal with OS X permissions and such.
Good luck.

Really? We still use it (just for fun). There's some neat programs on it, etc. The printer still works, too. :)
you asked ... how much will it be worth one day?
my answer still stands ... it is not rare or anything special ... sorry, not looking to offend.
Now if it was brand new ... originally sealed in a box ... maybe

There's only so many ways in which you can lay out what Apple has already chewed up and spat out. We can forgive MS for using the same layout, obviously. Of course, it's also obvious that this is another "me too" effort by them in a long string of late-to-the-party last-ditch attempts to not look like complete retards.
Anyway, are these shots even confirmed?
They are in desperate need of a change in management, regardless.

Thanks I did actually fit the fan in the wrong direction.
Anyway it seems my problems go deeper as the log give me this message: "PMU FORCED SHUTDOWN, CAUSE = -122". I've been Googling and it seems it may be caused by a combination of pushing the power-supply too hard while having an uneven supply of power from the mains.
I'll try to get a cheap PMU as I've found suggestions this might help stuff. At the momen I've just disconected as many USB-perhipals as possible and this seems to have improved my up-times so far...

No pink on the 23" I've been using for two months now.
Some residual ghosting with high contrast images that don't move, and a 2 inch band of slight discolouration down the left side. I do design and colour matters but for proofing I deal with a broadcast monitor for video or the printery for paper based.
I bought Applecare with my G5 and screen. Figure I'll test for six months and then return it if the problem becomes an obstacle to work.

Got OS X Tiger installed, ran software update to 10.4.11. I'm surprised how well Tiger runs on this thing.

I've had a similar experience on several occasions, most recently today. I have my inbox sorted by date received, with newest mail at the top, but for some reason new mail (received 'Today') will be at the bottom. Mail received 'Yesterday' will be at the top.
My message counter (in the dock icon) will indicate new mail, but when I look for it (at the top of my date-sorted list), it won't be there. I have to scroll down to the bottom of the list, and there, below the oldest of my already-read e-mails, is my new mail.
I've had the same issue in Mail countless times. I hope this bug is fixed in Tiger.

I acree with mnkeybsness, there really is no need to partition your drive.
The original need to partition drives was when computers could only access 2gb at a time, so you had to partition a particularly large drive to get use of all the platter space.
There is no limitation like this nowadays. As a result it's actually detrimental to partition as your machine thinks i has more than one drive, but the platter is still read from a single armiture - thus will wear out the drive sooner.
The first thing you should do is start the puppy up, and see what happens. If the drive needs formatting, pop the OS X disk in, and find Disk Utility. Erase, format, and innstall.

Keep your chin up and surround yourself with good friends that you can laugh with. They will help you through this time of crisis.
no one understands my hatrid of pcs. I have been using macs all my life. I learnt computers very young, and started with one of those old all in ones. I guess i am just not used to having antispyware and antivirus running in the background, unified menu bars, and having to fight to get software updates installed  Luckily i was smart; i didn't remove anything from my eMac and didn't make my parents administrators, so basically I am needed to do anything to it. It should be in better condition when i get it back, seeing it will be used maybe three times in the next three months, giving the eMac a nice and very needed rest after two and a half years of great service.
