Regarding Steve and arguably not his best keynote - What if in fact he did have a 'one more thing' but for some reason at the last minute was decided not to announce due to quality control, lack of quantity, a contractual hurdle, etc. He keeps those close hold and well its a possibility, especially that 'odd' comment up front about 'Money isn't everything'. Cryptic msg? Then again maybe he just had a bout of flu!

As far as the 'gap' between consumer and pro machines. MacWorld would be an ideal place to launch a prosumer device that has core duo, meet the mid-level user reqts but still be at nice pricepoint, and as an added bonus, now incorporates full home media functionality via BT or Airport

Would give the pro line a few months to get established, not take away from bottom line and would be so hot and in demand would be another home run :p

I don't believe this movie thing will be of great resolution. Chances are it'll be no worse than 480p. I mean, the TV shows iTunes sells aren't even HD (this is why I use an alternative source) and there's a huge difference between the HD version I get and iTunes'. I hope for the 10+ bucks they're charging us, the resolution gets to be 720p; 1080p would be ridiculous (bad or good).

iPod nano is good but I would like for the full-screen iPod. I got my eyes set on the Meizu M6 Miniplayer. I'm just hoping they update the Meizu to 8GB, etc (chances are unlikely considering it's not even sold to North America) because that price and sturdiness (couple that with the beautiful 2.4inch screen) and you got a competitive Nano-Killer.

No-TOUCH iPOD THIS TUESDAY POR FAVOR!

The sort of money you put down on a Mac you shouldn't expect anything less than USB 3.0 from here on out. Core 2 Duo in 2010 leaves a lot to be desired.

This is pretty academic, since you've always paid a premium for the Apple logo. Rarely does a Mac laptop have cutting edge hardware across the board (see the graphics cards in laptops for an example of something that seems always a generation or more behind). The sad reality is that even though you're right, they'll continue to sell those laptops at a prodigious rate. Most people don't care about technical specs as much as they do the overall user experience.

is this really a big deal?
Seriously, The Beatles were great, I would think by now most people have their songs. How many Lp's and Cd's they sold? How many Millions.
The only positive thing from this outcome is that Apple Corps will stop filling lawsuits against Apple Computer. Besides that, I see no point as this being a big deal.

Basically this is a very big deal. The Beatles catalog is similar to the Star Wars movies. The release of the material on a particular platform or format gives final legitimacy to the format.

Think of the Beatles catalog as the crown jewels of music (as the Star Wars movies are the crown jewels of movies, we'll be seeing but BlueRay and DVD-HD courting Lucas Films, whichever format they chose will be the standard, you may not agree, but that's just the was it goes).

Also there are quite a few people who have packed away their albums and CDs, but then they're reminded of a classic Beatles song and it's easy for them to spend the money to re-purchase the album than go into storage and then rip it. And if the sound quality is better!

How can the sound quality be better, well in the 80's and 90's a lot of stuff was either rushed out (not the case in the Beatles catalog) or the technology was not up to par (which is the case), so it's possible that an iTunes version may actually sound better than the initial CD release of the Beatle catalog from the late 80's.

Who cares about Flash? Most of the time it's used, it's because the web designers are too dumb or lazy to get the page right without it, because they haven't kept out with what a modern browser is capable of.

I'm curious. Anybody know where all that money goes? How much does Apple (the computer company) get vs. music companies vs. the two remaining Beatles? I heard that Michael Jackson owned the rights to a lot of Beatles songs - and now he's gone too. Any place this can be looked at?

    Rich

Thats a good point! I know Jacko had out bid McCartney on the rights to the Beatles songs but i too wonder who owns them now?

Upgrading to 2GB from the 2.0Ghz model seems like a waste since you'll have to throw away perfectly good DIMMS. I hate when Apple forces one to upgrade RAM along with higher priced specs.

No need to throw them away. There is a thing called Ebay out there ;)

So if I go to Norway, stab someone because of some arbitrary reason. What would you want to happen when my defence is 'Well when someone disrespects me or my friends, we stab them, so in our culture, that's ok.'? Just let me carry on about my business? What if I killed your parents or someone close to you? Would you be ok with it because my defense is 'it's my culture to kill another person'.

I'm not saying that's the way it is, nor is it the way it should be. But that's the way it's going anyway because of lousy integration. Those who oppose multi-kulti in favour of a more structured and efficient integration policy are labeled as xenophobic racists who don't deserve to live anyway (thoughtcrime is death).

I froze spending on a lot of things, made relatively minor cuts to others and actually raised worthy stuff like veterans' benefits and clean energy research.

Increased taxes moderately on those making $100,000-$1,000,000, but went whole hog on those making $1,000,000+. Returned the estate tax to 2001 levels (but wished I had the option to go a lot higher than that). Did not add a VAT tax.

I did not lower defense spending as much as some of you. I went from $600b down to $400b.

Removed the contribution limit on SS, but did not change benefits.

All in all, my cutting was pretty damn conservative compared to what the tea stainers are screaming about. And I still came out with this:

I'm saying that all those people who said, "Everyone who likes the Beatles already have all of their albums" (ahem, that list includes me!) weren't just wrong, they were epically wrong.

    Second.

Although... it could have just been fans who already owned pirated copies deciding that they liked the Beatles so much that they should legally download it.

I do that sometimes if I like something a lot and regret having pirated it.

What do people really expect to see refreshed in an iPod Classic? Retina Display? App store for click wheel games? Wifi for Pandora?

Those new Toshiba drives would boost the iPod Classic to 220GB. I'm thinking they'll wait until September to reveal them.

I posted in another post on this website this claim some time ago. Wal-Mart uses loss-leading priced CD sales to draw people into the store. BTW that is directly harmful to other brick and morter stores as well as medium priced online retailers. Are they apologizing for that? Considering that iTunes has been in business for YEARS now, have they somehow lost this "increased consumer traffic benefit" as a result of Apple's (#5 in market) success?

Do they see someting we do not see as to Apple's current or future domination of the movie business?

It seems that since Wal-Mart tends to service the very lowest income class in our culture and many of these folks tend to not have computers, and to the extent they do, tend to not have broadband either, it seems there is a degree of mutual exclusivity of markets.

Therefore it seems Wal-Mart is less concerned about the sales themselves as the "benefits" they receive by the physical customer traffic they get from some people going to Wal-Mart to buy intentionally underpriced product so they will shop for other things while there.

BTW Wal-Mart themselves state this, so it is not speculation.

For example, Skunk if very consistent in his proposition that the Bible is a revisionist book written by man with a specific human agenda in mind. In many discussions I've seen him post comments about the polytheistic history of the Canaanite people. That's one of his key points and he will continue to say so as he feels it is an important piece of evidence for his view.Would you argue that the Canaanites were not polytheistic?
Would you argue that the Hebrews were not Canaanites themselves?
Would you argue that the true polytheistic beliefs of contemporary Canaanites were not described in the Old Testament?
Would you argue that Israelite and Judaean leaders did not name their sons after El, chief god of the Canaanites?
Would you argue that the prophets were not continually bemoaning the polytheism of their people?
Would you argue that the "War in Heaven" was not the point at which the polytheism of Israel and Judah was transformed into monotheism, when El defeated the other gods and cast them out of heaven?
Would you argue that the angels were not the defeated lesser gods of the pantheon, retaining their memories of godhood in their -el suffixes?
Would you argue that Satan is not the same as Baal/Beelzebub?

I mainly hope that they go up to 1GB of RAM with this. Maybe a minor hard-drive upgrade too. Either way, I'm buying.

But it looks that it'll be soon, and I'm freakin' excited.

Although I hate to say... Intel will keep updating and within a few months there'll be a new "best processor". I'm mainly hoping that I won't regret buying this as it's instantly upgraded.

One thing I really hate about this Zune thing is the amount of free publicity Microsoft has gotten.

For months on end we've been bombarded with Zune-friendly "news" articles calling it an "iPod killer". Even before Microsoft had a name for it, before they had any sort of design for it, while it was still vaporware, the media kept hammering home, "iPod killer" while seeming to drool over the prospect.

There's STILL no actual product on the store shelves.

    It's disgusting, really.

I totally agree its horrible what a pass the media gives them, its just like how the media treats the Republicans
