Microsoft have released a USB to wireless dongle specifically for use with wireless pads. Have a look around for it.

It saddens me to say it...but should I be abandoning the laser printer that I purchased only a year and a half ago. It's been sooooo long does either Apple or Epson ever plan to support my $400 paperweight?

    PO'd in Northern VA....

    Link?

I googled the function and clicked the first link and they directed me to this page:

    http://simonwoodside.com/weblog/2009/4/22/how_to_really_url_encode/

I have no idea if this is true or not, I have not tried it yet.

    EDIT:
I just tried it, and it does work.

A multi-touch trackpad is a decent idea, I completely understand that Acer might want to add it to their machines. Everyone copies everyone else in some way or another.

My MBA is fine, and that certainly doesn't look right. It's still under warranty, so I'd take it into a store or contact customer services

I bought this BTO MacBook Air online and I'm using it everyday. I think it will take time for time replace the keyboard to me. Another thing is... This baby don't have a removable hard drive, it will give me a hard time for transfering files... :(

The whole resolution independance thing terrifies me. I just know we'll see some vendor or Apple have these annoying huge UI's that we can't shrink back down to their proper size. I mean the reason we buy this huge monitors is to shrink the UI and maximize free space right???

As we begin to soak in today's announcements, a few tidbits of note:

    - In reference to 'iTV', Steve only said that "802.11" would be used for wireless communication. Currently, Apple employs 802.11g "Airport Extreme" in its products, but the lack of specificity may hint at an adoption of the upcoming 802.11n standard.

    - Many users have noted the iTunes 7 standalone installer includes a greyed-out custom option for "iTunes Phone Driver". It is not clear whether this driver is for the rumored iPhone or for already iTunes compatible phones from Motorola.

    - To the delight of many existing 5G owners, iPod Software 1.2 (included with iTunes 7) will provide capability to playback the increased resolution of new iTunes TV Shows, Music Videos, and Movies. The technical specifications of the 5G had originally stated the maximum resolution for h264 playback as 320x240 px.

    - iTunes 7 will confirm if you wish to re-download content, and has a backup utility for backing up your library. Also introduced is a feature called "skip count" which tells you how often you have skipped a song.

Actually just read another post about 64-bit and 32-bit kernel and wondering if that is the root cause of my issue?

I will try the 32-bit when I get home later.

Incidentally, will I notice much difference between 64-bit and 32-bit?

    Will update later :o)

Lol, welcome back. The only benefit to 64-bit is the ability to utilize ridiculous amounts of RAM. There are a couple minor processor benefits as well, but nothing worth noting for the the majority of purposes. HERE (http://lifehacker.com/5431284/the-lifehacker-guide-to-64+bit-vs-32+bit-operating-systems)is a good guide to the differences.

when is .Mac update happening anyway?

Umm doesn't that usually happen sometime in the spring? The last two or three have been at least but I doubt they'll be keeping the new mail in a bag too much longer.

It is perfectly legal to download a copy of the operating system as an ISO. Its the product key that makes it work that's worth money.

That's so true! I really wanted to go ultimate this time and that's what i did
But i have to admit the cheapest iMacs are the best deals this time

    *Edit*
One thing i'de like to add. If video editing for you means doing some cuts, arranging your material and maybe doing a quick colour correction you don't need a powerfull machine. Actually i'm doing this with 1080p DSLR and Sony EX Cam footage on my two year old mac mini without problems.
The reason i'm ordering a new iMac is that i hit my computers limits when doing extensive compositing in After Effects.
    Hope that helps

    I have had a search but cannot find anything on this topic so here it goes;

I have a nice piece of 1gb RAM for my Mini problem is that it has a heatsink on it, I can't see anyway to remove the heatsink without damaging the Mini, so I was wondering if the Mini will be able to fit RAM with a heatsink on?? So if anyone has done this or tried I would be grateful to hear from you,

    Thanks in advance,
    ShadOW

I am shocked to see how popular these are becoming. Personally if I got one it would only be an addition to my computers not a replacement for my MBP. Like having the optical drive at my leisure and the better computing power. But then again I do working the IT field. I could easily see how they meet the average consumers needs. None the less I want one.

Lot's of people don't really need an MBP. People who actually need more power than a Core2Duo and discrete graphics are in a very tiny minority when just about the only uses everyone and their grandma have are content consumption such as facebook, mini games, or maybe the occasional email(if you want to count that as creation).

Well, considering you don't seem to understand that once your income is taxed, it is yours to keep, until you choose to spend it, at which time you might owe sales or use taxes.

Your fundamental misunderstanding of how taxes work makes this poll silly. You think taxes are imposed on what you've earned, when point of fact, the cost of doing business (i.e. earning money) is the tax rate, and you get to keep everything post-taxes.

This thread has something to do with taxes?

Yeah I don't think so. Unless you scale it to an exact multiple, it's going to look like crap.

With subpixel anti-aliasing (how OS X does it now), it will scale well to any size. Naturally it will get a little blurry, but it depends how you define "look like crap" as to whether it will be acceptable or not.

The real problem is that this antialiasing is an expensive operation. Maybe they can do it all on the GPU now...but they're going to have to cache those pictures somewhere. This why its a good thing that # of cores are going up and memory is getting cheaper, we will be using lots more of each when we turn on all the candy in 10.5

In your situation, I'd hire an engineer to professionally downsample to 48khz/24bit. It's fast and easy for most of them. If you made these LP transfers yourself though, you already have the software to do this. Make a new session and set it at 48k/24bit. Then import your 96k files. Export as WAV or AIFF 48k/24....

Then import to iTunes and convert to lossless, or high rate AAC...but at the 48k custom iTunes setting.

    No worries

Is the file really a jpeg? Is it CMYK or RGB?
Yeah, it looks like the image is CMYK. I don't know if changing it will fix the problem, but it should be RGB either way.

Why would you spread rumors of a 4.3.1? What's your source for the pwn2own "publically" found bug on 4.3? Do share wise one.

So Office 2004 AppleScript can translate VB on the fly (and 2007 VB can translate AppleScript), or that's the goal and we aren't there yet?

Unfortunately, no. It needs someone (an AppleScripter who knows VBA) to do the translating. But time will tell if some of this can be done instead in the XML, which would be cross-platform for the new files.
