Wirelessly posted (Ipod touch 4g 4.2.1: Mozilla/5.0 (Sonny Bro!; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)
and where do you get that info?
The iPhone 3Gs has an ARM type 7 CPU. It is the first iDevice to have one, with the iPod Touch 2G being the last type 6. Apple no longer includes the type 6 instruction set. Similar to how Snow Leopard no longer works on PPC Macs. The iPhone 3Gs was also the first iDevice to have the PowerVR SGX535 GPU. The iPod Touch 2G was the last to have the PowerVR MBX Lite 3D. The driver kext is no longer in the firmware and its doubtful that the 4.2.1 one would work.
Furthermore, Apple doesn't sign the soft SHSH for 4.3 and none of the jailbreaking tools out support it. So unless the OP wrote his own method for jailbreaking 4.3 and getting around the soft SHSH, he has just faked his firmware and build number.

I don't think it is going to go up in value for a while yet. I personally love the systems, and agree with the idea that it should be worth more though :) .
I still find a use for my 840av, typing up blogs and actually listening to CDs. Gotta love the built in DSP for sound recoridng too ;) .

Can't be done for a number of reasons. Which i've outlined before but can't be bothered to go into again. But the answer is "NO"

Time capsule is meant to be a backup drive...Did you delete all your music off your laptop as soon as it was on your TC?
There are many programs that will copy music off your iphone or ipod to hard drive. google it, very easy and quick to do. I'd use your next TC as intended!

Just wondering, how many people are doing the SETI@Home project instead of Folding@home? Maybe it's just me, but my PC blazes through SETI work whereas it took it a solid month to get through my first (and only) bit of Folding work.
Anyway, I just broke into the first page of the MacRumors team with the average daily credit, I'm quite proud :D Just wondering if there's still people keeping up with that project in here

Where does this healthy free market exist?
It sure isn't America.
Oh yes, Canada as well.
Competition is but a fond, or arcane, memory.

The iPhone is likely to be 10 times more successful than the iPod and he wanted to share the moment (introducing his/Apple's greatest achievment so far) with family.
What would you say? "naw, mom, why don't you just stay home for this one. you can catch the live feeds on macrumors.com...."
yeah. i didn't think so.

That is not strictly true. The MS purchase of Apple shares was little more than a token gesture to show that MS still believed in the company.
Not really. Microsoft had no reason to show that they "believed" in Apple. The investment was a condition of legal settlement. See post #98.

I've had 3 iPhone 4's unlocked by Rogers, 2 of which were under contract. It is against their internal policies, but it partly depends on the rep you get. For the second phone I got one that was so confused (policy was only a week old) that I was able to convince him the policy allowed me to be unlocked and so he did.
Wait, you got Rogers to unlock your iPhone?! Is this a new policy or did u get lucky?

Let's hope AT&T improves their service to match Verizon by the time iphone 5 is released.
Dropped iPhone Calls Really Are an AT&T Thing (http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2011/04/17/dropped-iphone-calls-really-are-an-att-thing.aspx)
Sprint will likely get the iphone 5. I wonder how good their service is?

A hacker who is trying to make money of his hacks is a bad hacker, I think.
He's not inovating he's just trying to make money on some one elses inovations.
It was cool to brake the cd protection and making the hack free, this ain't cool.

I've never understood the argument against the Air because of it's lack of DVD drive. I have no idea when the last time was I used mine, and it takes up a massive amount of space and weight on my MacBook.
I'm sure some people have uses of a DVD drive and for them its understandable, but I feel most people, myself included fall into the "I can't remember the last time I've used my CD/DVD drive ..." category. Which is why I replaced mine entirely with a SSD drive, which I boot from. I would recommend it to anybody with the available funds.

I agree with many of your points, except for the mindless drone remark. Yes you are not, but to imply that others who differ with you is uncalled for.
Leo
Leo, point noted.
i didn't mean that everyone who buys apple products is a mindless drone. i just meant Apple is treating many of their customer base this way.
it is just strange when Apple used to be much more of a consumer oriented company and the underdog, now it seems to be more monopolistic than Microsoft during the MS heyday.

Man I love watching phone nerds have pissing contests. :D Do you guys really think all the posturing actually matters to anyone? Are you wearing them on your belt loop or something?
In our area we have a choice of four carriers - Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, and T-Mobile. When it was time to switch, it was because of dissatisfaction with Verizon so that dropped them out of consideration. We use a family plan, and when I discovered Cingular's advertised base rate includes only one phone (how can that be considered a "family plan"?) unlike every other carrier, that eliminated them. Sprint doesn't seem to do the lower-end plans, and we just don't talk on our phones that much. So, that left T-Mobile.
I've got to say that, at least in my area, calls from a T-Mobile phone seem significantly clearer than they did on Verizon. The coverage area is sub-optimal, though, if you need phone coverage in less populated areas (like where my in-laws live) - but I've had absolutely no issues in the normal day to day routine.

After using several different cases since getting my iPhone 4 on launch day, I've been using it without a case for a few months.
I've currently got a powersupport crystal on the front, invisible shield on the back, and luckylabs spectra wrap round the sides.
My question is, I'm thinking of getting an otterbox defender for taking my phone on holiday, to protect it on the beach and from any splashes around the pool, but wasn't sure if the built in screen protector plus my ps crystal would make the screen unresponsive?
Does anyone use a similar set up, and can give me some advice?
Thanks.http://bestcasinogamingonline.com/crunk/15/543.jpg
Dont know your answer but sounds like a good idea :)

I am trying to get my printer to work on my powerbook. It is a HP Officejet k60. On the HP site they don't have any drivers for MacOS, but they do have one for Linux. Will the Linux driver work on my Mac? I have tried installing it, and my Linux is a little weak, but when I try to run the make command it tells me I don't have a compiler installed. Now when I had Linux on my PC I rememeber I had to run the setup utility to install all the developer tools. Is this a similar issue? Is there a compiler on the CD that came with my Mac? If not, where can I download one?
Am I going about this in the wrong way? I thought that OSX was supposed to eliminate the need to install drivers and such. Cause my PC can use this printer withouut any drivers at all installed. In fact, HP recommeds that you just let XP do its thing and not install a thing from the CD that came with it cause it was pre-XP drivers. Shouldn't OSX be able to do the same? I mean I can see it in the Print Center, but it says "Driver not installed" right beside it and it won't let me add it.
I'm sorry, this is probly a retarded question, but I have had my Mac for less than a week now. And with school around the corner I kind need this printer working pronto.
