What about something made in Germany? ;)
Not sure people would jump the gun on an Audi R8 had it been made in Asia! :D
I would. Germany is pretty much set on protecting it's industrial base.

For those hoping for a merom MacBook Pro (like me) on the 12th, I wouldn't hold your breath. Going by previous Apple laptop upgrade cycles, I would expect to see the merom MBP by around the middle of October.

I hope what this shows the PC makers is that it's not just a race to the bottom as far as price is concerned, but that people are willing to pay more for a device if it's built well and does a good job.
Stop worrying about shaving that extra dollar off the price and providing the rock-bottom rickety low-cost PC that will fall apart in a few months; instead, go ahead and invest in computers with longer battery life, better build quality, and other useful features -- consumers are willing to pay for it.

With all the resources they have been putting into Leopard and iPhone, do you think apple has any manpower left to produce new product? though i'd like to think 'yes'
anyway, i wish they give us more hint than just 'something in the air', it sounds like it could be anything :)

I agree - for me this is what cemented my extreme aversion to going anywhere near a Walmart. If they could essentially put Rubbermaid (the Number 1 rated US company at the time) out of business, then they unfortuantely do wield too much control over the retail business. Until i saw the Frontline episode I wondered why Rubbermaid had become junk and couldn't find the selection that used to be available.
They seem to go after just about every niche there is. Just look at the latest news of selling generic prescription drugs for $4 for a 30 day supply. It looks again to be a hook to get people into their stores. They say it covers 300 different drugs, but in reality it is only 124 medicines but in a variety of doses. So they may end up with 12 out of those 300 being different versions of amoxicillin. Some popular drugs aren't included, like Zocor. But all the gullible masses will see is $4 PRESCRIPTIONS!!
Your points would mean more if it was a big secret that Walmart bullies their suppliers and sells low quality products.
As it stands, *everyone* knows they abuse their suppliers, *everyone* knows they sell the absolute lowest quality merchandise from various Asian sweatshops and *everyone* knows they aren't very good to their employees.
Yet people happily go there and spend money in droves, because as much as they dislike a large company bullying other companies (and in this case, the competition) and as much as they dislike supporting sweatshops or a bad employer, they dislike wasting their meager paycheck on markups even more.
It's the same Starbucks mentality that fills the world with hypocrisy.

Maybe Steve will introduce the full version? "Boom" here's the new Final Cut Studio.
so what do the experts say to that? Does it mean a step up, down or a side-step on the professional–consumer scale?
Final Cut Pro is already professional. New version is even better.

One thing that strikes me...... doesn't this cause some confusion since Intel uses the "Core 2 Duo" name for both the mobile Merom chips and the desktop Conroe chips? Not that most consumers would know the difference anyway, but it seems like people see "Core 2 Duo" in the desktop iMac, and the assumption would be that it would be the same "Core 2 Duo" processor found in other desktops, not the mobile version.

Just going to put this right here:
"What would I do? I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders" -Michael Dell
I do love that quote. Of all the Winbox makers Dell seems to be the one with the bleakest future. I'm hoping HP can do something with Palm and not waste an opportunity to increase diversity in the market. But this is HP, they seem more interested in making printers (which are still a pain to set up) than innovating in the computer market. (I'd love it if they'd innovate in the printer market and make a network printer that isn't a complete pain.)

you people are never happy...
I hope you arent referring to anything I said.
I think these iMacs are great. Apple has done a great job IMO with his iMac lineup. Makes me want one even though I bought a Mac Pro. (Which is arriving today :))
I am taking about the ACDs anyhow.

I'm sorry SuperJudge. I should have worded myself better. What I'm trying to say is that the information presented on the web page that I referenced points to contextual clues that would require one to know the Hebrew language to understand. Additionally, understanding Hebrew history in terms of traditional beliefs and culture is also beneficial when understanding the connections between the old and new testament and hence the old and new covenant. We believe that Christ fulfilled the prophecies of the old testament.
I didn't mean to imply that traditional Jewish belief supports the concept of the trinity. Obviously, it does not as they interpret the old testament as a stand alone without the revelation of the new testament.
I didn't intend to be confusing, just to point out that simply reading the old testament on its own in a modern translation might not bring out all of the nuances that are there in the original language and context.
For answers regarding how the old testament itself does point to a triune God then look at the web page I referenced in my previous post.
I see what you're saying now. I disagree to large extent, because of those same nuances in ancient Hebrew that are paralleled in other ancient Semitic languages that belonged to non-monotheistic peoples and what scholarly research has to say about the evolution of Jewish beliefs from the period of the Exodus Forward.
I think I understand where you're coming from, though, and I realize that I am coming from a very different sort of place.

yes, apple will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't have that issue resolved in the second generation model.
does anyone know how many hrs it is until we should "expect" the announcement assuming it is going to be released within the next day.
Haha! First there would be a mass resigning. They would just all quit Apple and leave an empty building behind. Then they would sadly shoot themselves in the foot at the parking lot. That's how it would happen.
I can't wait! Lsen Die MackBuch bitte!

anyone know the baseband update situation for the 3gs? Is this just a "security" patch or are there some real changes worth having?

Vinyl record might be something "archaic" in some peoples' opinion, but digital music can become a "fossil" in the future (in very near future i hope). And don't worry, there are a lot of people who care about vinyl records; for instance a musician candidate like me.
Well, it's really a risk with all media formats/mediums in general. However, it's all likely going to be digital moving forward regardless of the file extension on the end of the file.
I love vinyl myself.

Wow, I have already replied to this one above, but below is his brother apparently.
So even though I have a MBP and not a PB I can probably get a new battery as well by changing the serial numbers despite what is really on my battery.
COOL!!!!!!!!!!
That's seriously not cool. For one, you're basically stealing someone else's replacement battery, since when they put in their number that happens to have a C instead of your B it's going to say they already sent the battery out. And second, when it comes time to return your defective battery don't you think they're going to notice it's entirely the wrong type?
Bad plan.

Bad: Fan blasting @ 6KRPM (really unnecessary, can't even use this in class without disturbing the rest of the people in there)
Your fans always blast at 6Krpm? That doesn't sound right. Have you tried resetting the PRAM?

And if the US spent even a fraction of the $600 billion a year it spends on its military on aid then we'd all be better off - free mosquito nets for Africans would be a good start (http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2011/03/libya_v_aid?page=4).
it would be already a good start if current US foreign aid would be used for aid and not military expenses
in some cases of that foreign aid those countries are even required to use the money for military equipment from the US ...

Building a new PC soon Well i hope for my money Microsoft give me a nice big shiney box for Vista with lots of pointless manuels that give it that expensive heavy feel.
After years of "naughty" versions of Windows feels weird to be looking forward to paying for the latest version.
