The feature is part of iTunes, so I'm sure it's still there.
Well, it only worked for Shuffle, not the other iPods, so I am not sure. Something to check at the store in three weeks when they become available...

Hey everyone.
I'm in school right now. Does the MacRumorsLive.com work on cell phones? The only free time I get is at lunch when we can use our cell phones?
Thanks everyone.
it only says how many minutes we still have to wait so i think it does work :)

So what happens when the might of Apple comes crashing down on you - public execution at dawn?!
Are you suggesting they will get the electric tablet?

Oh please. word opens in like less than a second and I only have a core duo and 1.5gbs of ram.
I only have 1 GB with my MacPro. Excel & Word only run slowly if I'm also running Parallels Desktop for Mac at the same time. Add in FireFox & you'll find out how slow virtual memory can be big time.
At those time I'm not sure I can wait until those FB DIMMs come down in price to a more reasonable, affordable level.

Singin' in the rain
Just singin' in the rain.
What a glorious feelin'.
I'm happy again.
I'm laughin' at clouds
So dark up above.
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love.
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place.
Come on with the rain.
I've a smile on my face.
I'll walk down the lane
With a happy refrain,
And singin', just singin' in the rain.
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!!
OI!
OI!!!
OI!!!!

I think this is the #1 reason people don't switch; They think that the difficulties of windows are how computing is supposed to be, namely, complicated, expensive, and time consuming.
I have to fight tooth and nail at my company to use a mac because, and I quote my "IT Professional"; "Macs are too expensive, they get too many viruses, and they're too hard to network and support". Now, granted, this woman isn't bright and was "promoted" to network admin from some receptionist job at some point, but this is how most companies think.
I have to disagree. I really don't think it is that sophisticated of an issue. It comes down to software and deployment. The people on this board are quite intelligent, so I would expect they can concede Windows rules the software market.
I am the network admin, on the side, for a small business. Additionally, I am the purchasing manager, and as the purchasing manager it is not prudent for me to purchase any Macs. Windows 2003 SBS (small business server) is an excellent backend server. Remote access, VPN, and exchange server simply are amazing tools for collaboration and connectivity to peers. On SBS 2003 they are all included.
The computers I purchase must have Windows XP Pro, which is a must for our domain management. I have actually added a Mac to our active directory, and had Entourage running off Exchange, and I can tell you it was a big pain in the ass. HP Business Computers are excellent at providing a clean install of Windows XP Pro. I simply don't see a decent argument for an employee to have a Mac when all the programs they are required to run are on Windows. Additionally, I will not waste time or money purchasing additional licenses of XP Pro for Macs, and then have to install it. Since we are a construction company we are heavy into Timberline (SQL based estimating and accounting...amazing application), Access, Visio, Project, and AutoCAD. I have yet to find viable alternatives on the Mac that has full compatibility.
In your argument you mentioned iTunes. Well I have that for Windows. I find Picasa to be a better application than iLife, and I don’t use Garage Band or iMovie.
Of course for home use there are plenty of software choices that are arguably the best in their class, such as iLife. However, those specific applications are not significant value added tools for our business.
The truth is I own a Mac at home for simple entertainment. It’s fun to use a different platform from time to time. However, Ubuntu and OS X are still entertainment OSs for me and not much more.
However, when money is on the line I would never choose a Mac in our business. They simply don’t have a competitive advantage and are not able to offer any software that would make our business more efficient. Now I could argue that software developers can be blamed for not offering Mac versions of critical applications, but I really don’t care.

too bad 3 people will have to die in a chinese jail to protect apple's trade secrets (or rather, secrets that were intended to be revealed a few months later)
Yeah, fancy that, a nation that still believes in crime and punishment.

Yeah, I can just see it how they were talking about how it recognizes who you are to log you in.
Next thing you know it will...
query your facebook profile,
tell your friends you're "kinected",
invite eachother to help you choose a dress by spamming their walls,
upload your bio to your playmates,
fetch all your social activity from Bing...
Big BrotherSoft will be watching you!

So apparently Mr. Beeks has a new person on his list to avoid at the Christmas party. It'll be interesting to see Apple's response to this, if there is one.
Apple's response will be to delay the movie download service for about 1 year just to make it look like Steve Beeks didn't know what he's talking about.
I hope I'm wrong about that.

I don't know where you people live, but I hear all the time from people on here acting like At&t is SO HORRIBLE. I live in the midwest and I never have any problems with At&t...full service everywhere I go and rarely any dropped calls. I've had them all, Verizon (which completely blows), sprint, nextel etc.... At&t has the best service...
I think this refers to large markets. There have been lots of complaints about AT&T in New York City, San Francisco, and a few other places. It seems that the population density has saturated AT&T's ability to keep calls going with the 3G network active.

If Apple comes out with a deal that includes all movie / episode downloads for $10, then uh.
'gasm.
Toss in iAd along with streaming music and it's probably still a longshot... but I love the idea. Apple would DOMINATE the streaming market. Can you imagine the number of Apple users who would pay $10 a month for an all inclusive media streaming service? $10 multiplied by *a giant number* + iAd revenue = huge profit for Apple with more than enough to appease the content producers.

While it's nice that they're taking steps to fix the issues it seems like an odd method for a huge corporation like AT&T... it seems more like the activity of a small company that's in over its head.

Bah.... I'll agree that trashing a perfectly good iPad is a bit painful to watch, but at the same time -- spare me the environmental guilt trip over it. Blendtek's people paid the same price for theirs that anyone else had to pay to obtain one. Whether the iPad in question was destined for a blender, or for someone's book reading or video watching enjoyment for the next few years is irrelevant. The fact is, its *purchase* is what helped some people stay employed, from the factory workers doing its assembly to the guy paid to box the unit up, to the truck driver paid to deliver it.
If its destruction helped Blendtek sell some more blenders (or even create some additional brand awareness at a budget price), it wasn't a "waste" to blend the thing at all, from their standpoint. It was $500 well spent!
I'm not worried about having to "explain this to someone who has nothing", because such an individual wouldn't really grasp why ANYONE would spend $500 or more on such an unnecessary luxury item as an iPad. You could get a book from a local library for FREE and read it! You could rent a movie for as little as a dollar and watch it on someone's TV/DVD player! You could get on the Internet for free from that same library that loans you the books!

This pisses me off. It's a horrible example of decadence and wastefulness. Thing of all the energy and effort that went into making this device. From the mining of the metals to the labour to shipping it across the ocean. The truck that drove it to its final destination. If you've ever given any care to the environment, this should make you mad. Imagine explaining this to someone who has nothing. It went through a long journey. Did nothing. Now it's landfill. Sickening.
