Her Majesty... off Abbey Road. The entire song is up as the iTunes clips are longer than the track. So if you want, hijack the audio and get a FREE song
If you think of it that way then Ringo's I've Got Blisters... (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/ive-got-blisters/id52046?i=52042) and The End (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-end/id52046?i=52044) are also free. And worth every penny!

u must take really good care of yours. ive seen many people around campus whose iBooks have turned an odd shade of grey or brown...i guess dirt gets caught in the scratches
Not really. I mean, I do wash the casing every once in a while, but I'm not obsessive over it. It's a computer, and it'll look however it does after the use I put it through.

Ridiculous that Apple would let this story post and NOT have it's site already configured to handle the inquries.
Yeah - I think that's really odd. In this situation...any company would want to be seen not only to be the source of said info but also be ready with the official response and instructions...
unless it was leaked many hours ahead of apple... or is a bogus story altogether - the latter is unlikely though

OH good lord what a crock of poo. How can Wal Mart threaten Hollywood studios? What will Wal Mart do, stop selling DVDs and hurt its own retail business? Silly.
I don't believe any of it.

I like your 'games' point but not so sure about your other claims.
Did you mean that Windows buyers ARE more techno-savvy?
Or that Techno-Savvy types tend to avoid Macs?
The average buyer today is less tech-savvy. 10 years ago, soccer moms and hipsters didn't own laptops. Those who actually had email accounts or myspace pages would use the family desktop computer or a machine in a computer lab.
Today, your grandmother has a facebook page and a yahoo/hotmail/gmail account and probably has her own laptop.
Higher Prices for Better Machines.
Fantastic designs are not cheap. And Apple never skimps on Components
Quality Windows PCs cost about the Same as Macs but don't have iLife.
Actually, Apple does skimp on components. They charge more for the same hardware that PC manufacturers use, and Macs are never at the bleeding edge of hardware tech (probably because their profit margins would disappear due to price pressures)[/quote]
You think a Mom or kid wouldn't think the Mac OS is more attractive and easier to use?
You say "People telling them Macs are good" but are not clear why they do tell them that. Are Macs really good or is "All marketing"?
More attractive? Maybe not anymore... Windows 7 has made pretty big strides in terms of UI. There isn't much wrong with Mac as a computing platform, but lets be honest here.... Mac's strength as a computing platform is *not* what is propping up their sales. PC's still do it cheaper and just as easily (if not easier) for 90% of the tasks a typical user undertakes.
'Cool'
What does that mean? Is it just another word for 'Trendy'?
How did Macs get to be cool or trendy?
I always defined cool as 'being comfortable being yourself'
Are you serious? Maybe you're new here? Apple fans are 2 steps shy of being brainwashed cult members and its no secret to anyone that Apple's hype/marketing department is probably the strongest weapon in their arsenal. They are very adept at pushing their products.
Finally, why does every switcher I meet have the same expression on their face. They all look relieved, like we have just pulled them into the life boat.
Cool may get you to buy something but it can't make you LOVE something.
So why do Mac users LOVE their machines so much?
If you own one I don't really have to explain.
Really? I'd tell you about the pained expressions on one switcher's face I know after asking me (again) to salvage whatever data I could off of the 3rd hard drive that her macbook ate, but it is beside the point.
Are macs decent computers? Yes. Are people buying them en mass because it is 'cool'? Definitely.

Haven't joined in the POTD for a while - mostly because I'm still playing with my new strobes. But here's a little camera porn for today, courtesy of those same new strobes - and one of the many relics in my camera closet.

does anyone else feellike the ipod needs to be quicker? some times it takes like five to ten seconds for it to start playing songs of movies, maybe the interface is so simple that i tell it what to do too fast and get ahead of it? also if you listen to music and browse your pics some times the music skipps. maybe the nvidia chips will cure this?

Geez, this is a MONEY LOSER if there ever was one.
I loved the beatles when I was 6.
But, these days who's going to be buying these tracks!!!
Steve must love the Beatles, because this is a gift.
And will hardly be a profitable venture.
---
Yes, the stereo effect on the early albums is hard on headphones.
The drums ONLY in the Right ear.
The Guitars ONLY in the Left...
Beieve me, this will sell big time. Look what catalogue tracks have sold. Alot of old boomer stuff. As Morrissey said...Repackage repackage. But yes the remastered versions in both CD (and 5.1) and online versions will be really big. I mean U2 sells a ton of even their 20 year old music on itunes.

Doubt it, American labor unions will never allow that. haha. Plus, China won't have problems finding labor in the country.
YEP!
Electronics manufacturers are not in China for cheap labor. The manufacturing process is so automated that there is very labor involved. They manufacture in China because of currency exchange rates, and because of lax environmental laws.
Really? So I guess the 920,000 people working at FoxConn are just standing around goofing off?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn
FoxConn has a net income of about 2.2 billion. Their gross revenues are about $59 billion. If each worker cost them just an extra $2,500 per year ($210 per month) they would be out of business and have to shut their doors.
And everyone here knows damn well that Chinese workers get paid much less than US workers, in other words doing FoxConn in a country with higher labor costs would mean that everything would cost a CRAP LOAD more money or it wouldn't get built to begin with.
----
As someone pointed out, Samsung may assemble SOME things in korea but individual components are often build elsewhere. Samsung also does a lot of Chinese manufacturing too. In fact, out of the Samsung devices I own they are all MADE IN CHINA too.

I think this will make the iPad 3 very revolutionary. I think it will be crazy but i hope its like the 3d in the 3DS and not with glasses. But i can definitely see 3D coming to all iOS devices and eventually to OSX devices as the bridge between the two systems will become closer and closer as we go into into the future.

I hope they eventually make a 15" MacBook and a 13" MacBook Pro. I think they are in a good spot to expand the line-up to cover a larger base of consumers. They're not dummies, the iBook/PowerBook line-up was great.
And destroy the sales of the computers that they would be competing against in the line-up? Apple won't do it. That's why they're holding off as long on the MacBooks as possible.

Well spoken, blitzkrieg79.
It is amazing to me that otherwise intelligent people parrot the corporate line that its simply not possible to manufacture products domestically and remain profitable. Do people really think that $80 name brand shirts, $140 shoes, or the $2500 computers being made on the other side of the planet are being sold at a price anywhere near what it actually cost to make? C'mon.
Why is it every time a company moves manufacturing overseas, we never see a reduction in the price?
If Apple was just barely squeezing out a profit and scraping by, holding on by their fingernails, I'd buy their line about needing to manufacture practically everything overseas, but we're talking about a company that makes absolutely enormous profits.
So Apple simply can't afford to manufacture here anymore? Well, how much profit did Apple make last quarter, again? Haha, sure, right.

I have no doubt's that this will be resolved in time. In the mean time, I don't have any of the problems that the new IOS 4.3.1 fixes on my Verizon iPhone. ;):apple:
I'm guessing iOS5 (most likely in June) will put them in sync for releases.

hope they aren't automatic then people will lose their jailbreaks!
def. won't be automatic as people have bandwidth restrictions with their carrier.
also, i wouldn't even mind this being over wifi.

I haven't read the whole thread, but will throw in my two cents on the original topic. I think it's fair for MS to charge considerably more for an OS that represents a few years of work than Apple charges for their yearly OS. I prefer Apple's, and I buy each new Apple OS as it comes out, but I still think it's not fair to compare cost straight away. Microsoft's multi-level charging does seem a bit extreme though.
