I used to work at RS and really it was pretty good place to work. It was commission but I always made around $10 or so an hour. Yeah, it maybe overpriced but generally the employees are more intelligent then BB employees and way better then WM employees.
Walmart is way worse the RS.

This could be cool but I am amazed how many people say it's too hard to connect to iTunes for a back up. Last night I got home from work, plugged in my iPhone to install the update then took a shower. When I was done with my shower and stuff it was all done.

I hate stereoscopic 3D. OK, it's quite fun at the cinema with your friends on a night out, but it's far from perfect. I really can't see Apple implementing the technology in any of their products. It's not polished enough for them, not good enough for the 'Apple experience'. Like AMOLED (as it currently stands), Apple will probably leave it to the other guys to play around with, waiting for either something better or the technology to mature. In this case, however, I think stereoscopic 3D is a dead end.

Wow. Hewitt is one of the big developers on the iPhone. That's a pretty big loss for the iPhone man. Some seriously big shoes for the new developer to fill.

Seriously, if you think that's a big developer you live too much in Social Networking sites.
That guy doesn't touch tens of thousands of n-tier professional developers who write call center suites, engineering applications, Wall Street Financial applications, Power Plant applications, etc.
Seriously, he's a kid who got known for Firebug. BFD.

While for me, $500 is a "pretty big wad of cash to throw down", there's more to it than strictly looking at the dollar figure. EG. Do you have a kid or kids that might benefit from being able to use the new iPad you're about to purchase? Do you have legitimate uses for it that go along with EARNING more money, or maybe even the ability to write the whole purchase off as a tax deduction the next year? When you spend $20 on some beer or a few bucks on some food, it's a consumable you use once and throw some trash away, and then you have nothing to show for it.
One thing I know about myself is, I'm very hesitant to spend much on "instant gratification" type of entertainment. I practically never spend money on tickets for sporting events or concerts, and maybe buy a movie ticket once a year. I've often skipped summer vacations completely because my employer didn't want me to take time off when they had important projects going on, and I just opted to get paid for the days instead. I don't even have cable or satellite TV at home, because I hated watching $60 or more per month just vanish into thin air, with nothing concrete to show for it later. So when I do spend my money? It tends to be on bigger-ticket items I know I'll get a lot of use out of for years down the road.
So frankly, in my relationships, "respect" is just as much about my partner respecting my ability to make sensible purchasing decisions and NOT demand I consult with her first, simply because it's something a lot more expensive than a fast food order.
The basis for any good relationship is communication. And I am not sure what kind of money you make, but $500 is a pretty big wad of cash to throw down and it should merit a conversation with your spouse. Its not like you threw down a $1 on a cheeseburger, or $2 on a scratch off, or heck $20 of beer. You spent $500, thats like a whole months utilities. Thats a car payment. Thats a few hours of tuition for your kid's college one day. Its no chump change.
And household income should be considered just that, household. It does not matter who makes more money, it should be community, and if you're spending $500 on an iPad, then you're lady should be able to spend $500 on a coach purse. How would you feel about that?
Non-necessities, expensive purchases should always be discussed. There is a need for open, honest communication in a marriage. If you don't have that, and you are running around buying ipads without consulting them, well unless you got a fad wad of cash, you likely wont stay married long.
Its about respect. If you don't respect your wife enough to discuss a $500 purchase with her, then you don't deserve to have the companionship of a female.

I don't know if I should give this a postive or negative. Either way, I hate Microsoft.
It is good news, at 400 buckeroos people will go "Wa!!" and look at the price tag of a Mac Mini, figuring Macs are not so expensive after all.

Please don't tell me that anyone that actually needs the CS apps can't plunk down $450-$1000 for the EDU version, but will shell out $3000 for an overpriced Mac Pro?
Students pay either less (edu-discount-not just in the U.S.) for their Mac, buy a refurbished model or buy a used Mac from the previous owner. In the best case, this reduces the price of a previous generation Mac to one third or even to 25 percent of the original price.
And who says, students are rich? You, or what!? *lol*

Waited at Best Buy an hour before they opened to get one, even after reading a few messages in this thread about it only being reservations (call it dumb optimism). Unfortunately, same situation with reservations. Went to the Apple Store and they had ~16 iPads in the configuration I wanted (16GB WiFi, 6 black and 10 white). Should have just tried the Apple Store first.

Huh? No one thought that the MBP at the end of the banner was a phone...
read this somewhere- not sure if it has been posted here yet. Seems like the MBP at the end of the banner has a different (thinner) speaker design than both the current MBP 15' & 17'
Here are some images of the banner, MBP 15 & 17

Apple is purchasing the 700 mhz range to offer free wireless iTunes in all of its products across North America! ;)
Perhaps not for that purpose, but one wonders what Apple could do with part of the 700MHz spectrum...
How decent is it for streaming video? With Slingbox rumored to be working on an iPhone and iPod Touch client, perhaps Apple is looking at streaming rentals to those devices for when you find yourself stuck in an airport because of a delayed flight. Make a great ad tie-in:
"There is something in the air, but it's not you because of snow at O'Hare. So why not catch the new episode of '(insert show name here)' while you wait for the next update at the gate?"

I agree with you there is just something about the 13" MacBook that doesn't fit but the 12" its PERFECT
Agreed. I love my 12" so much I fondle it every night before bedtime, much to my boyfriend's chagrin. I surf the web in bed before sleepy-time. It keeps him awake.

You can guess where the money from that 3rd 30" went :D :apple:
Wow... trading a 30" display for a 10" display. That's something I could never do, even if I had two others. Hell, having two others would make it even harder :o

Actually, I had recently purchased an iPad 1 last week and the wife was also upset. I did return it, but not really to make her happy-it was to make ME happy. Number 1: it was only a 16GB, and number 2: I like the iPad 2 much better.
Plus, I have the credit to buy one, but no job. And since I didn't need it, that helped make my decision.
But, AT&T had the 64GB wifi and 3G for $529...sooooo tempted!:o

Same here. Guess a trip to Vegas is in order.
Sadly, Vegas will cost you more for a week than SF (if you want to do it "right").

Well... but at least it's not Apple's fault, because they didn't produce the driver. Therefore it's actually not a concern of Apple's but of the driver's producer's.
On the other hand Apple did include it into it's OS seemingly without testing it thorougly, and that is, of course, a concern of Apple's. So they will have to work together to get rid of that - and I'm sure they will - and I may be smug again. :p
The moral of the story is that to hack OS X you have to focus your effort on the closed-source software that's in there.
Everybody thinks Macs are safe because Darwin is open source, tried and tested. But we forget about all the closed-source software that is running with elevated privileges.

makes sense that they upgrade the 15 and 17 and not the 13, the 13 inch is pretty good as it is, they just need to upgrade the hard drives to 250 and 320gb and the 15 and 17 inch should reach 1TB
WHAT !?!? Are you kidding me ?!? Do you really consider increasing the hard disk capacity as an official "upgrade" ?
Core 2 Duo is an outdated technology !! Accept this fact already !!

I laugh at this topic...because it's been yapped about for weeks..."just cut NPR and we'll save $40 million!" Wow...$40mill out of trillions. Yeah, great concept. Why don't we cut out public museums, libraries, and parks while we're at it.
I actually listen to NPR...basically because it's on the classical station I tune into. NPR may be a bit on the Democrat side, but overall I find the stories are at least real news...while offering both sides of the argument.
Queue all the Fox News freaks...
I think the MacRumors posters have solved this problem with their insightful comments.
Now to the most important thing:
Will the iphone and ipad get less expensive when produced in Brazil? LOL
