Here we go with the "You said this, so you must be this..." stereotype...
I know guys where even though they are the "bread winner" or contribute greatly to the funds, they have to approve EVERYTHING through the Wife - whereas the Wife can spend as she pleases....
Happy Wife, Happy Life...
Not into that type of relationship.
Just tried to answer the question that was asked... Not stereotyping at all

Drinking from the Apple koolaid again, huh?
Perhaps if you pulled your head out of SJ's bum long enough to look around, you'd notice the vast majority of iPhone users are being punished in Apple's attempt to mold the internet in it's own image.
A large number of websites use flash in their design, and are completely inaccessible without flash support. Inefficient or not, that's fact, and we're the losers here.
Sorry, just stating facts. Flash is a horribly inferior technology and has crippled the web from a much greater potential. I honestly have not missed it at all on my iPhone and I block it with ClickToFlash on my Macs. I would GLADLY forgo Flash if Apple can kill it forever. Web developers need to use approved open standards and stop using Flash as a crutch. And if by Apple's own image, you mean far superior open standards that are approved by the W3C, then yes!

Has anyone suggested that the 23" iMac could be that long awaited "30th Anniversary Mac." Unless of course they're waiting on releasing a mini-tower with Conroe and dub that the "Mac" making a return for their 30th anniversary year. One or the other, I wouldn't be suprise if they bring back some of that 30th anniversary year fanfare for the release of one of those two. A 23" iMac would definitely be claim worthy of the name, especially if they could squeeze a conroe in it and put it in cinema display aluminum enclosures. Oh well, just me dreaming I guess. Oh, and a sub-$2000 price point wouldn't hurt either! I do want to see conroe inside some mac before this time next year though...
I've suggested a couple of times the 23" iMac might just be that 30th anniversary Mac.

Thanks! I was waiting for the sunset over the city last night and the clouds screwed me. So I stuck around in the cold and took some night shots. Here's another from the same bench that I didn't like as much.

No, agreed, the first one is much better. I like the emptiness contrasted with the big city sky. It gives it a nice, romantic and almost nostalgic feeling.
Here's one from my latest concert shoot, Streetlight Manifesto. I had forgotten how much fun ska punk was! These guys were all over the place. I got lucky with this shot and timed it just when someone else released their flash from a P&S.

I have to descent from the mass and say I was not impressed by the Keynote. What the hell is with Safari still having the brushed metal interface, as well as the finder, etc...
I thought they were finally going to get rid of that and get some consistency in their GUI.
you mean dissent. great feature of OS X, hover over a word and hit control-command-D and you get a pop-up dictionary element defining the word.
as for the UI, that's the easiest thing in the world to implement at the last minute. it would be dumb from a marketing stand point to release that now 9 months or so prior to leopard's release. right now microsoft has caught up in many ways to the aqua look and feel (okay will catch up), while i don't think microsoft has the kind of time to implement GUI ideas in to vista, the general public are easily distracted. release the GUI now then tell them not for 9 months and they're going to get bored with it. when leopard ships the GUI will have a "been there, done that" feel about it. now announce it at MWSF '07 and tell everyone you're shipping in april, now you're on. you scuttle vista by showing off a UI that is different, and hopefully superior to vista's rip off of aqua and you have a better chance of maintaining interest.
i saw some hints to this effect when the french gentleman was poking fun at vista.
Overall, I am much more interested in the developers. When is OS X going to be more than a different OS and get some key native applications? Apple continues to lead the show, as they should, but they should take a hint from Microsoft and promote their developers more. Like it or not, it's not Apple, but ultimately their developers that will grow the platform.
what do you mean by "native"? all OS X apps not running in classic or rosetta are native. photoshop is never going to have OS X exclusive features, it's never going to feel like an application from the omni group because it has to work cross platform.
as for developers, things like core audio, core video, core data, etc... are huge.

24 hours battery life!! WOW. I want one, in addition to the shuffle! I bought my 4GB nano last month, but should have waited....
~Shard~ my jaw dropped when iLounge first reported the nano was 52% smaller in volume. Too bad it wasn't true, because then I would have had to get one!

It's really amazing to see here people justifying the price of Windows Vista, when not even corporations think about migrating to the "new" OS in 2-years time...Vista is just a rehashed NT, and no company will need it in the short term.

here's some of my speculation about this update...
While we don't know exactly how the Firmware update was designed, it would appear as though the update will simply ignore symptoms of a SMC short circuit to allow the laptop to continue operating. If this is the case it may degrade a MacBook's ability to detect true over-heat situations.
AppleInsider had previously reported that a new MacBook logic board was under development to eliminate the root hardware issue, but a release date was not known.
Perhaps it allows the MacBook to recognize the output you would get from a short-circuited thermometer cable and ignore it, while still monitoring its regular output (at least when it's not short-circuited). Or maybe it decreases the threshold at which the fans kick it, preventing the heat sink from expanding as much. I doubt that Apple would provide a firmware update that would instruct the MacBook to ignore all information from the thermometer, as this would be a recipe for disaster in no time.

As we all have seen over the past few months, there have been loads of rumors going around about these new TRUE video, Gaming, Ebooking, Bluetooth, Internet Capable, Large screened, touch screen, non-touch IPODS.
Honestly, only an idiot would believe each and every rumor. One reason for this is they can't all work together. The other is just reality. Apple prolly could make a productt like this. Some day this super POD may come. Not now. As someone who has followed apple closely for years, here is my opinion on what you will see in new Ipods...
Widescreen (good resolution<not super>)
One form of wireless capabilty (this could be bluetooth, or this could be wireless internet capability to get more music) Im betting bluetooth.
Some form of touchscreen ( there will have to be some special casing, as to prevent scratches)
No REAL games, just stuff that is cooler to play than the crap thats on ipods now (thats not too tough to come up with)
I dont think apple will go into the ebook buisness however i do believe ipods will be pdf capable (likely other formats). This won't be no ipodEBOOK. It will be more of an oppurtunity to have written document easily on an ipod. Personally, I use my ipod hard for important documents. Lets be able to view them.

I can say with certainty that it is NOT Intel's nor AMD's fault. Megahertz is a valid benchmark for performance in the PC world. Although it may not be the end all in deciding factors which is faster, it's safe to say that a 1.4 mhz AMD is going to be faster than a 1.2mhz. When comparing megahertz to different architectures, that is where the problem lies. I don't think, however, that megahertz is a "myth". When Apple was close to wintel speeds, it was a good marketing campaign. But now with Apple so far behind, that whole slogan needs to be put to rest. PC's are ahead in all aspects except software.
When it comes to pointing the finger, I think it lies with Apple. Apple should have more of a push with the cpu manufacturers. Instead, it seems like the manufacturers are totally in controll and Apple is forced to sit on their hands. You would think Apple would develop more of a partnership, rather than being just another customer of Motorola and IBM.
In closing, I think Apple, Moto, and IBM all suck. They missed the boat and the best they can do is try to catch up. They ALL lose, along with the Apple consumers.
Just my $.02

Do a little research on eBay and see how many of these are listed and sold per hour. These cheap Chinese imports are not tracked in overall sales figures of MP3 players. I don't know what kind of market share they have.1) I don't use eBay - but how many iPods are sold there?
2) How many iPods are sold - through regular outlets - every hour?
3) iPods are made in China
4) If you don't even know the market share how do you know they are threatening iPod sales?

we do not need to cut corners on things like Helicopters by hanging onto ancient machines like the Sea King Helicopters or as they are known ..."flying coffins"

What aggression does Canada have to defend itself against? Or are you in the mindset that you guys should be imperialistic like us?

Yup, most of the waste is for military technology and planes like the raptor that were built for cold-war style fighting. That era is dead. No offense intended, but that poster clearly has NO IDEA what the US uses its ridiculously large military budget for.
There's also the Airborne Laser, which was an utterly stupid idea. There's the virtual fence Boeing was paid to build to secure the US/Mexico border that never worked...

Thank you, and seriously they are not going to make the jump to Iphone 5 for another generation after this one, that I think is still going to come out on time, with an A5 processor in June. I will be making the move from my 3Gs to the next gen as soon as it comes out. Btw I am not basing my knowledge of a summer Iphone release on the fact that apple has not let me down yet year after year of releasing Iphones early into the summer.
So you are saying that the new iPhone will release without iOS 5?
Because its doubtful iOS 5 will be released with no dev preview prior to release.

Ah good to see that it's not worth upgrading my Core Duo MB to the new one, I think the speed increase wil lbe negligble (comparing a 1.83Ghz CD with 1.83C2D)
I think that's right, for the most part.
Those Core Duo MB owners might consider a hardrive upgrade, to a 7200rpm drive, for a nice speedbump.
