It's my guess that many here seriously think WWDC is just a show for Apple to give a keynote and call it a day.
My thoughts are the same, people honestly believe that wwdc is just the keynote

Anyone knows how the GeForce 7600 GT compares to the Radeon X1X00 series?
Similar to the X1800 GT?
Must be better/faster than the X1600....
On par with x1800, about twice as fast as x1600.

Haha, so can we now bill our client the monthly price if they need work done in Illustrator, just like we would bill them for the fonts or anything else?
I started using Photoshop at version 5.5 when I was about 12. So I was kind of confused when I just saw this pop up in my Twitter feed. I had a flashback! Crazy how we have come this far. This new model sounds interesting, but will it beat the people who pirate software? Unlikely.
Now time to dive-in and see what these changes are...
Did anyone see this coming?? Feels almost like a late April Fool's joke.
They've had a subscription version in their EDU lineup for a while now - that's not the surprise.

Number One checking in! Seriously, I started the first "Post Your Mac Setup" thread.
It still boggles my mind that this has made it to 13 parts and is still going strong! *knock on wood* I hope it never ends!
I just sold my MacBook Pro but once my iMac arrives I will take photos of my setup for everyone. It's definitely changed a lot since then, lol.
Plus, everyone else's photos are making me super envious!

I'm more productive working on a Windows machine, as there are less distractions.
What are you talking about? I work on a PC most of the day at work and it is very distracting. Dialog boxes, pinging noises, etc. Outlook will freeze my computer with a hidden dialog box asking me if I want to archive my files. My mac never does this to me.
You don't use a Mac at all if ever.

I really hope that this will be done in a way that can be turned off (i.e - display as normal 2D) as this could really be a bad move for the iPad. The advantage of the iPad is that you can just use it casually, on your lap, on an armrest and so-on; but with 3D the angle has to be just-so or the effect doesn't work.
If it were a feature you can turn on and off easily, and maybe turns on automatically when you place the iPad on a stand, then it could be do-able, otherwise it's just going to be a nightmare as unlike handheld gaming devices you don't hold an iPad in any one-way.
In fact, on that point, is it even possible to have a 3D screen that works both horizontally and vertically? I suppose it could be but it might mean generating four separate images and building the screen to separate them, that's quite a bit of wasted GPU power right there, not to mention manufacturing cost on the screen.

I'm not very impressed. Rather disappointing news, isn't it ?
1) Voice control: I barely use it on my 3GS... and never see anyone using it. It's already been implemented for ages in every cellphones (remembering old Siemens GSM of 1999 already had it...) and nobody has been using it. Even more gimmicky than 3D imho... When in public transportation, you are trying to be as discreet as possible, not to shout into your phone/earphones mic. maybe for in-car purposes would voice control be a nice addition but most modern cars already offer similar, maybe superior capabilities (thinking about the Renault Carminat universal bluetooth connectivity kit which is great).
2) LTE: does it exist anywhere outside the US ? seems a tad early to me - and seeing how shy Apple was with 3G, I think we'd better wait a year or two.
What I'd rather like in my future iPhone is:
1) a built-in pico projector (making it the ultimate corporate phone in certain situations... plus a fantastic portable multimedia platform)
2)localized social awareness: discover what music people around you are listening to/what sites they're surfing on, etc (opt-in), would be a nice leap in the social network area (where Apple is a bit stagnating)
LTE will not revolutionize how people use their phones, nor will voice control - I don't see myself talking to my phone, it cannot be quicker than typing & swiping... whereas pico-projection, localized social awareness (orh whatever they may call it)... yummy...
anyway, that was just my 2 cents...

For all those saying 'It won't be over 3G' thats an assumption based on the current system.
For any OTA solution to work even thinking of using the current system would be foolish. Therefore its safe to assume that should this go ahead they have developed a system to push out only the required changes, such as those seen on BlackBerry's and Android devices which utilise 3G and WLAN.
Also, both of these solutions use your data allowance so why would this be any different? You have to accept a warning that this may use your data allowance and then you start the process.
However, I don't see them pushing full new versions of iOS OTA. I exepect it will only be minor updates.

Yeah, great news indeed. I wish they'd actually manufacture in more countries like Nokia does.

Great, another store that carries iPad 2 but won't ever have any in stock. LOL.
Unfortunately I think 80% of iPad 2 supply is going to scalpers and resellers, the moment Apple stores get them in stock they sell out and craigslist is then flooded with heavily marked up iPads. It's kind of ridiculous.
On a related note, isn't it a bit weird Apple hasn't announced any sales figures yet? They're usually quick to brag when devices hit a million sales in a short amount of time.
The ONLY way to stop this would be an in-store activiation requirement - no more "New in Box - Unopened" sales and then they'd also have to deal with the warranty switch-over.

People don't care about Flash Player itself, they just want the ability to play video in the browser, which the iPhone is perfectly capable of doing. So instead of lobbying Apple for Flash support we should be lobbying web developers for video tag support.
Developers aren't the problem. A lot of it is Internet Explorer and Microsoft not supporting standards. For one, IE doesn't do much html5. Microsoft will probably never support the svg-based "flash killer" canvas tag. Also, due to bickering on all browser makers, HTML5 doesn't specify a mandatory video format so you have Apple doing mpeg-4, Firefox and friends doing ogg, and IE supporting nothing. And let's not forget users who still run IE6.
Out of the box, most Windows machines don't know how to play MP4 files (unless a user has QuickTime) but most do play flash content. Mac OS X won't play ogg out of the box. So you're left with Flash. As a web developer, Flash is the easiest way to get multimedia, especially video, on your website and looking the same in all browsers. Unless you run a predominately Mac OS X website, HTML5 just isn't ready for prime time yet.
