If you are so inclined, you can boot into Windows 7 write FF's to recover any partial NAND blocks.
The SSD's in the Air's have decent garbage collection, so this isn't really necessary. Some may even recommend against it due to the extra duty cycles involved.
I wrote up a somewhat detailed explanation of GC and Trim on NBR for a Sony Z1 I purchased.

I'm going to attempt a transplant of the Sony 512GB SSD "sammich" into the 13" MBA sometime this week. Not sure if the cables are going to line up, but the PCB's will fit.

If it truly is an official carrier unlock, then you can't lose it for any reason.
I guess if someone went in to Apple's database and removed your IMEI then a restore would relock it, but Apple has no reason to do so unless something shady went on.

I meet one person after another who thinks iTunes Store tracks are sourced from CDs. But to me this doesn't make any sense because for the amount of tracks available on the store, the number that become newly available regularly... it would take an army.
I was always under the impression that Apple sourced the tracks digitally from the labels, and encoded to AAC from sources that were almost certainly higher up the ladder than CD quality (ie; studio master)
Does anybody know for sure what the lineage of Store songs is?
Thanks.

I've read a bit about pageouts and RAM/OSX performance on MacRumors, but what I haven't been able to determine is how many pageouts are too many?
For the last 3 hours, I have been using a Dual 1.8 with 1.5GB RAM and have had the following pageins/pageouts according to Activity Monitor: 28883/1184.
Is this an indication that I need more RAM? Is there some type of rule or formula to determine how much I need based on the number of these pageouts?

If the 7457 is on schedule, my guess is they will migrate the PM lineup to the 7457 early 2003 and follow up with the other models as soon as Motorola can produce enough of them.
Assuming Apple adopts the 970 from IBM, the PM should migrate to the 970 late 2003 - early and the remainder of the iMac/eMac/portables will stay 7457.
I'm assuming that IBM is not going to be able to shrink the power budget on the 970 much. As a result, I don't see how it would make sense to put a 1.2GHz 970 in the PB in place of a 1.8GHz 7457.

What if you choose not to override loadView, let the view controller create the view, then put all of the other code in viewDidLoad?

There's a kind of strange relationship between the directory structure on the boot HD and what Finder shows you, that hides some of the Unix directories. Also, you may not have an /opt directory -- I don't. Do this:
Open Terminal
Type:
cd /
ls
If you see an entry "opt," you can type "open opt" which will open opt in a new Finder window, even though it isn't normally visible.
If you do not, make one:
mkdir opt
Again, you can use "open opt" to get to this in finder, or you can continue to make the directories with mkdir, and you can use cp to copy the files.

That's awesome. Too bad AirCanada flight attendants didn't decide to have a bit of fun with the passengers when I flew with them back to China. At least there were pillows!

Possibly so that they can process most of the people with reservations before starting with the people without? After all, it wouldn't be fair if they had lots of spare units and started letting people just walk in and buy one, with people in the reservation line having to wait.

The x-rite colormunki photo allows you to calibrate your monitors, projectors, and printers. It is a bit pricey, however you can receive a $50 rebate and a color checker free from x-rite now.
I have seen the colormunki photo priced at $499, but B & H and Amazon have it for $449.
I supplied the links below.

exciting but this is going to use A LOT of power, especially with new generations of GPUs possibly approaching 200watts
Watts the problem when you want to be first? ;)
People have been calling for the Cell processor to be used for folding. GPUs obviously have really great floating point capabilities and they can even speed up poor (s)Tinker code dramatically.
Of course, with Vista following Mac OS X in using the GPU for certain effects, that GPU is going to be busy.

Does anyone else have the issue with time machine where it has to redo your backup? This is the second time I've had to recreate my back up on my time capsule after receiving this error message.
http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/HT4076/HT4076_01----en.png
Anyone know anything that can help? These backups can take more than a day to complete and I'm worried about the reliability of the time capsule.

i have a pm 8600 and was wondering if the 8 scsi device limit is for the hole machine or per bus (witch it has 2 of [3 if you count the external one])
The external and one of the internals are really the same bus, so you have the 8 device limit (taking into account that the SCSI controller itself counts as one.)
Also note that some versions of the Mac OS slap all busses together, making it limit artificially to only 8 devices, even though you should be able to 'double up'. I believe 8.0 and higher remove this.
