1) standard numeric keypad
2) QWERTY keyboard
3) Hybrid QWERTY keyboard (a la Blackberry 7100 or Blackberry Pearl, though RIM probably has a patent on this...)

FAIL Apple. First of all, "app" is generic. Secondly, as iOS apps need to be bought and synced through iTunes...youre not going to lose sales to an Amazon/Microsoft/Google "app store". Grow up.

Please bring back the 24"! 21" - too small. 27" - too big. 24" - just right!
I'm sticking with my 24" Core2Duo until a new 24" model is released.
I actually read somewhere that due to the way LCD panels are manufactured that there are various sizes that can be cut. Supposedly Apple is wasting several inches of panel by having an off size. I think it's possible that the 24" might just make its way back into the lineup as the new low end iMac. However, I think we would hear rumors of that ahead of time. Maybe with the next design change. I think 2012 will be a big year for the return of the Mac. There are rumors of MBP changes, and it seems like Apple could cut down the size of the "chin" and make the iMac look like the 27" LED ACD with just display showing from the front.
Anyways, I have a 27" LED ACD, and from my experience it's too big. I really love the size of it but it's a double edged sword. the ipod wasn't a ground up design either.
portal player had the software, pixo designed the UI, toshiba had the new 1.8" hard drives and tony fadell who came up with the whole idea was an outside vendor who pitched the ipod to real networds first (who turned them down, genius).
now admittedly, it was apple, jobs and ives' that took a good idea and refined it to being the great product introduced in '03, but the ipod was an interesting break from apple's NIH syndrome. so much so that i question the TS report about apple going for a ground up design.
I still have and use my original 5gb ipod. Came out before christmas, but after 9/11. I remember thinking how expensive it seemed & the state of the country at that point and wondered if anyone would buy it, I got mine in the spring of '02.

I refuse to waste any more time arguing with someone that doesn't understand what he's talking about and thinks a niche format will rule the world in short order and that adaptors are 10 cents on the dollar for complex new high speed connectors. Macs are expensive, and many Mac users cannot afford or do not want to buy new Macs frequently. Such Mac users want to buy a Mac and have it work with the latest software and peripherals for as many years as possible. For such users, it makes total sense to want a Mac with Thunderbolt, even though there are isn't a single Thunderbolt peripheral on the market.
I absolutely agree. This is the same reason why I was hoping the USB 3.0 would be on this version. I realize now that is almost certainly not going to happen. I just thought that with so many PC's (including some PC laptops) already offering USB 3.0 that maybe the brand spankin' new iMac might be so equipped.
I was wondering why so many people are so opposed to Apple offering Blu-Ray as a BTO option. I have read where Steve Jobs spoke negatively about Blu-Ray, I wonder if these same people would be all gung-ho for BR if Jobs had spoken positively about it? I realize that he is a very smart man, but he isn't God! I always thought that BR would have been a great thing to have on a Mac for things like backing up your iTunes library. Imagine that, being able to back up your entire iTunes library on two or three BR discs. That would have been really nice. I read somewhere the other day that they either have or are getting ready to have BR discs that have a 100GB capacity. What in the world would have been wrong with that?

Apple's entry into the living room is way overdue (the mini only barely counts since it doesn't have real media center/pvr capabilities). I've been waiting for 2 years for them to do with the living room what they have done with the MP3 player.
I can't think of a better combo than a 23" iMac in my office wirelessly linked to a media-box in my living room that will allow me to record and watch TV, stream downloaded movies from my PC to my TV, stream my iTunes library to my stereo, and show my iPhotos without a second computer.

Why assume people want to game on the go ? I don't game on the go with my MBA, I usually use it to VPN to work on the go or to do some hobby programming. However, when home, I plug it into my external monitor and I game there. Why wouldn't people with 11" do the same ? Play some WoW/StarCraft/Civilization/Portal/Whatever at home when "docked", unplug and take the laptop on the Go for other tasks they need to do away from home ?If you read my post more carefully you'll understand I was referring to the people who play games on the 11". As far as I'm concerned, working on a laptop with an external monitor plugged in is an exception (rare) and not something common.

Love the style and miniaturization being tested out in the Air line. I'd never seriously consider one though unless they made a 15" version. I've been buying mid-size Mac laptops forever, going back to the 14" Wallstreet.
With my need for real estate (graphics and video editing) and limited use of optical drives and lots of I/O ports on a daily basis, that thin form factor and big screen would be just perfect for me.
Think it over Apple - thinner is better, but so is bigger!
