Basically there isn't enough margin in the low end for Apple to sell there -- it's basically a loss-leader and/or break even (if they're lucky) product for the likes of a lot of other companies.
actually, the emacs for education (seeing as my dad is a teacher) are 750$ for a baseline emac. the 600$ ones are only for mass purchases for educational facilities

"Error occurred during installation please try again" doesn't necessarily indicate there is anything wrong with your machine. I have received a similar message whilst running Software Update and the problem was with the network.
Have you tried as advised - tried later?

So the article mentions backing up your Library as a new feature included in iTunes 7. I don't really see it anywhere, anyone know what they're talking about?
Obviously I could just copy the library and folder myself (since I keep the library consolidated), but it would be nice to know how to do this directly from iTunes.
See this (http://www.tuaw.com/2006/09/12/how-to-back-up-your-music-using-itunes-7/)

ACD doesnt have HDCP now in anacronistic.I can't buy a display if i can't use bluray o ps3.For you when NEW ACD can come out?
So in theory Apple wont release Bluray until they release compatible displays. We could be waiting a long time before we see Bluray as an option then on Macs!

Wonder if he rushed the iTV announcement because the iPod 5G still has a small screen...no full screen with virtual wheel as the so-called rumors kept hinting at for months..

Take through view finder = fast
Take picture while looking at LCD = slow
This. Reason #435,681 why live view should not be on an SLR.

I would really like to see a cooperation between T-Mobile and Apple, since T-Mobile is one of the biggest net providers in Germany.

I agree, those ads were great, but Apple has moved on from just advertising the iPod (Classic), and now the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad are the main focus for ads.

One thread where I shall read every post.
It's interesting to note how it affected so many people beyond the victims and their families... much of that footage I saw on TV that day I have never seen again, particularly that huge dust cloud enveloping everything.

Hi there,
I own the powerpcmac.com domain and I am needing to do some drastic changes to the site. Initially, the site was used as a small reseller site after I obtained an entire school district's worth of used machines. I have reduced my inventory from approximately 1500 used machines to 77, and have no interest in buying and reselling any more computers. I was thinking of doing some sort of Apple news/rumor/history/trade-board type site, but I wanted to see if people thought that the scene is oversaturated or if it would be worth my time. I will continue to own and use the domain name regardless, but I would be interested in what the MacRumors community thought. I wonder how many of these type of sites you visit on a regular basis, what you think of them, and whether I could build something that would be a compliment to, rather than a competitor of existing sites. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
PS. Please don't criticize the current site. It's coming down, and I will be asking my dad (20+ years experience in computers, 10+ in site design) for help this time. I am absolutely pathetic at site design, but I criticize very well, so I am well aware of the current site's numerous shortcomings.
Thanks for anything constructive you have to offer.

I'll tell you what I've told everybody, this is not an AT&T problem. I have the Atrix and I have NEVER dropped a call in Saint Louis. My wife's Samsung Focus never has dropped a call in six months either. My friend has the iPhone 4 and another has the 3GS in Saint Louis and they CONSTANTLY cannot connect Call Failed or drop calls.
It's the iPhone man.
/rant
And I'll tell you what I've told everybody else. I had verizon for years. No dropped calls and signal in locations other carriers had none. I got the iphone in November on ATT. Weaker signal. Not only my phone, but in my office, my home and family's homes, non-iphones on ATT have worse signal.
If you are in the heart of a city and not in a particular building, then ATT is just fine. But go to certain areas in rural america and Verizon is much better.
So for my experience ATT is the problem.

Specifying sizes in mm and inches would have to be the worst way to do web design. I have good eyesight so i want my webpages to be small, my parents have worse eyesight so they like to scale everything larger, their solution at the moment is to decrease the screen resolution, this is very crude on an lcd. When resolution independence becomes standard they will be able to make everything larger while still maintaining the default resolution of their monitor, but if everyone designs webpages in mm or inches then the webpages wont become bigger, completely defeating the purpose.
No, this is still a good thing. If web pages are designed in inches and millimeters, then your parents will not have to change the screen resolution to increase the size. Instead there should be a method of scaling the page so that it will be, say, 1.5 times bigger. After scaling, the page will still be as sharp as it is at the normal size. That's significantly better than reducing the resolution on an LCD.
Now this is dependent on this scaling method being available, but if Apple doesn't provide it you can bet somebody out there will come up with a utility to do it.
Resolution independence has no downsides.

There is no jailbreak yet.
Of course it didn't work.
What the hell made you think it might?
Lol Yeah I know I just had to try.....just a little impatient but I'm cool. That's what ya get when ya rush out and get the latest thing. Unlike me usually I'd wait months before JB anything. I was fortunate enough to JB the first iPad for a friend who let me hold it for a week. The JB is soo sweet on a iPad ("

The term wanker originated from British slang in the 1940s.[1] Wanker literally means "one who is handsome and intelligent ". In modern usage it is usually a general massive compliment.

Id say it depends on what kind of stereos they will introduce, if it's a shelf system then maybe around $400-650, for components even more, but I doubt it will go for $2000.

I don't know if you are aware of this.... Can't you wait until June/July for the release of Final Cut Pro X (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/13/final-cut-pro-x-demo-nowhere-near-final-version-more-on-final-cut-studio-apps-coming/)? looking at the video demo (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/13/video-of-final-cut-pro-x-introduction-now-available/), it seem's awsome...
Not sure what shortcomings will the X version will have compared to the current FCP Studio, since the price difference is huge.
cheers!
