A couple of weeks ago, I was doing my usual syncing on my jailbroken 4G iPod Touch and for some weird reason, the iPod Touch kept disconnecting and reconnecting to my laptop while syncing.
I thought nothing more of it until I tried out some Apps and I found that some of them wouldn't work any more in that they'd go straight back to the main screen after going into them.
I've tried deleting them and reinstalling them but that doesn't seem to work at all.
I don't want to have to resort to doing a full reset and reinstall of my Apps, so I was wondering if there was any way of telling if my iPod Touch is corrupted or not so if I do have to take it to my local Apple Store in Liverpool to have it fixed, I can set it up so that it doesn't look like it's been jailbroken before taking it there.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe the problem is it being jailbroken? Try unjailbreaking it and try the apps again. Assuming they aren't apps you get through the jailbreak.

An RGB Scart cable will give you the best picture possible from the console itself. How well the TV handles the signal and the actual picture quality is another matter entirely.
If you have an original MD and you want stereo, you'll need a Scart cable that has a seperate heahphone jack coming from it that plugs into the front of the console. The MD2 outputs stereo from it's AV port so it's much neater. It's quite simple to build your own (http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/genesisav.htm).

Hello-
I just got back from the Genius Bar regarding my 24" LED Cinema Display.
The genius basically just took a quick look, punched in the serial number, and said I need to pay $398.00 for a flat rate repair. I did not oblige to this, and thought I could repair it myself, as I am a A+ certified computer technition.
The problem is, Cinema Displays are not my thing. I have two thoughts on what it could be:
1. The Logic Board inside the Display as suggested by the Genius. When the display is plugged in, it charges my MacBook Pro, and that's all. It does not appear as a USB hub in system profiler, and the iSight camera and speakers are not utilized or even detected by both my MacBook Pro and Mac Mini.
2. The Power Supply...
It might be this, however since the unit charges my MBP i'm not sure about it. Other than the charging, the unit gets otherwise no power.
I'm going to open it up later and inspect for blown capacitors, burnt or damaged areas, ect. I'll post if I find anything.
Thanks!
I did a quick google search and it looks like the ACD logic boards are relatively inexpensive. Just over $100.
For a MBP that flat rate is a great thing, but in your case your probably better buying the part and repairing it yourself. I would do like you said, open it up 1st and inspect for damage. Make sure the board is getting power like it should etc...

I noticed that some slides consistently add 3 or 4 seconds to what I type in ie if I type in "1" second, it'll show up as "4" seconds.
Check iMovie Preferences, there is an option to display times as HH:MM:SS or not. Change the setting from what it is, and I think that will solve the above.

Hi guys,
The ACD 27" has 3 cables. a USB cable, displayport and also a magsafe.
So this might be a stupid questionnnn...
but once the ACD is plugged into the MacPro.. does the magsafe just hang there for no reason?
I know theyre primarily designed for the MacBook Pros.. but people who have iMacs and MacPros are left with an ugly hanging cable?
Must look pretty ugly.. its not like Apple at all..
from apple.com:
MagSafe connector.
The LED Cinema Display includes a MagSafe connector that powers and charges your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air. The connector sits on your desk, ready and waiting. No need to unwind the cord to the power adapter that came with your notebook. Leave it exactly where it is, in your bag.
There's nothing to charge in the MacPro server.

Wow, looks great. Price is a little higher than I'd like, but . . . looks great.
I have a LaCie DVD burner -- but last year's model: single layer, 8X, etc.
Verdict: A+. Don't worry about 16X versus 8X. We're all getting spoiled by the speed. My LaCie CD burner is too fast! I can't even go out and grab a drink and the damn thing is done.
Also: one bad DVD burn in a year's time. Can't complain about that. (It was probably my computer's fault anyway.)

Hi, what is the real life battery life for the Macbook Pro 2011 15". I have been trying to get more than 2 hours. Some times 3 when firefox is closed with wireless off. Battery life still shows 98% and the machine itself is around 8 weeks old. I checked with the local apple reseller (Middle east) and they run some sort of tests and told me the battery is good.
So, trying to figure out how much battery life I should really expect. I did all sort of SMC,PRAM resets and battery calibration. I have got High Res 15" with 8 GB of RAM. Also running C300 SSD.
Please share your experience with the model you have and how old your model is.
Thanks.

I like it. I reckon it'd be nice if you flashed one frame of the entire 'tar, with all the Apple boxes. :)
Great minds think alike lol! I had just been thinking the same thing, so it's been changed now and I think it looks better. ;)

I'd probably get the iMac. The screen space would be a huge benefit, and a sandy bridge quad will mow through videos like nothing, hyperthreading or not.

Keep it and use it for vintage computing (see how much modern stuff those old 68K machines are capable of... sometimes its scary how much of what I do on my Mac Pro I could just as easily do on a Quadra 900)

If you needed to buy parts, this place isn't too bad. Although free is nice if you got spare things lying around.

I wouldn't count on a hard drive of any sort changing much at all. Assuming you're not running lots of apps while trying to do this, it's all CPU.

Yesterday Safari went APE on me not wanting to re-open itself, just instantly crashing, and today it works, but I get this on nearly every other page.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5/audiogodz1/ScreenShot2011-05-03at15206PM.png
It is driving me insane. I am also having issue with Safari running very slowly with multiple tabs open and this is on my 2010 i5 quad so it should be smoking along.
Other experiencing this webpages reloading pop up? This might be the first time I have had to abandon Safari for Firefox as all I am doing is error reporting on this machine at this point.

Now I want to install windows 7 in my 2010 MBP. Boot camp always tell me to backup format and restore which is an option I don't want to do! Now can I partition my own win 7 partition from disk utilities and install? Would boot camp drivers still work?
TIA

... I have a Mac Pro that contains my main administrator account (the one that gets used 99.9% of the time....
This is very bad. never do "normal" work in an account to as admin enabled. Make an unprivaleged acound for yourself and use the for all day to day work
Easier is to make another admin account and set your existing account to not-admin.
The simplest thing is for each of you to share you itunes libraries. then each account can see both libraries.
What you really want is one library that both of you ca use. iTunes is not very good at that. Apple just didn't design for this well. One option is a third "user" that has a librey with all the songs or you have to decide which of you has the libreary.
But first take care of that security problem and remove Admin from your account

I'm trying to run an MBox 2 on this MacBook and getting nowhere so far. I'm also concerned about the lack of FireWire port, but it seems that I could save audio files on the internal HD or a USB HD.

That "Administrator" account is disabled by default.
I take it that you are using a standard account?
Did you make a password protected admin account for the purpose of authenticating with higher privileges from that standard account?
You need two accounts. A password protected admin account that is only there to provide admin credentials and to use to rescue standard accounts in the event of issues. And, a standard account used for day to day computing.
I am/was using a standard account, & this was the only account I created.
I figured out how to setup the administrator account by trial & error. Actually just trial & no error.
Thanks, all, for the help. It got me thinking in the right direction.
