It'll be $129 the same as ALL of the past upgrades except for Snow Leopard which was Leopard but just a slimmed-down, rewriting of the OS. Apple felt that without a lot of core new features being added, they would give the public a break and just charge a nominal fee for Snow Leopard, rather than the typical $129.
Don't listen to anyone who says differently. It will be $129.
It'll be cheaper if bought via the Mac App Store, just like Aperture is cheaper than the off the shelf, boxed version when bought via the Mac App Store.

Ah - but it isn't as many as 50 % of the gun crimes that are done by black men. This is just racist propaganda from a statistics-generator which has been pre-programmed to disfavour people with non-English names. The next statement will probably be that more than half of the honour killings in the United Kingdom are done by people from Pakistan or Arab countries, which will be just as absurd. In some cultures, it's acceptable (or even expected) to use violence to get what one wants, and we have to tolerate each other as we are. Dialogue and Understanding.
But culture is not above the law of the country you are currently in. If you use violence to get your on way in a country which has zero tolerance of it, you should be punished in accordance with those laws.
In regard to the Aunt Jemima/Uncle Ben thing. I would be willing to say that most Black people in the UK don't know these brands were formed from slave based stereotypes. I'd also say that these people aren't positive black role models. I'd say Condaleeza Rice and Barack Obama would be much better role models than stylized remnants of a time when slavery was seen as being ok in the Southern States.
Also, with kids not able to get into college in the US, my fiance used to work for an organization which helped minority kids prepare for and get into colleges. She found that Black males were more likely to get free rides than black females, some of the boys had awful back stories with little male positive role models but with the right encouragement for them, they were able to do well through school and get into colleges. Unfortunately not enough people are willing to put their time and effort into this. I would love to volunteer in the future and help kids in the area I'll be living in get into college, but I'm afraid with my background (white british/irish and british accent) it would be hard for the boys to relate to me. It is something I'd love to try though, hopefully introducing rugby in the area too, a game which has the 'positive' aspects of being in a gang, but none of the negative ones.
Another thing, gun ownership in the UK is very rare. So the fact that gangs which unfortunately have a make up (proportionally in London) of Black, Turkish, Kurdish and White boys means that gang members are more likely to be carrying weapons than other members of the population. In Manchester and Liverpool it's different with poor white kids from council estates being the main issue.
I think papers like the Telegraph and to a much higher degree, The Daily Mail, like to sensationalise statistics like this. Unfortunately they should be doing more to find ways of helping people rather than perpetuate the stereotypes and generate fear.

I hope that this pisses off the studios royally. The sooner we shift to a purely electronic method of distribution, the better everything is.
Be careful what you wish for, and which Devil you find yourself in bed with. Remeber Divx, the original Circuit City Divx. The studios want to protect our media FROM us and they want us to forget "fair use" ever existed. Their dream is to restrict access to our media and make us pay for each access to it.
Divx charged you to watch DVDs you "owned" for 48-hour time windows, and you couldn't go from one player to another. Digital media is great, but always remember the studios don't like that you can buy a movie for $20 and watch it as many times as you want or do things like ripping it to an iPod. DRM will creep in and protect your media from you, online distribution only ensures this will happen sooner rather than later.
Not to mention the quality problem. When will iTunes offer 1920x1080 movies with Dolby Digital Plus sound? That's right, never. When physical media goes away, we are all stuck with low quality -- thanks in large part to iTunes and paying for 128 kbps songs and then 320x240 videos. Sonically, we have a generation of people listening to heavily compressed music on crappy earbuds. We've gone backwards from CD, not forward. Rather than going to 24-bit sampling, 192kHz sampling, and 6 channels, at best we get lossless that's still the same as a CD. The high-res audio formats (DVD-A, SACD) failed miserably. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are just launching but will not grow like DVD did. And here we have people flocking to buy movies with inferior quality to DVD.

Which is probably what they thought when they were designing the first SLRs.
Until someone had the brainwave of sticking in an extra lens element to accommodate the mirror.
And they're going implement this to good effect on a phone camera?

OK... who can show us a pic of this extra screw?
I have a screw in the bottom middle of my MacBook, but I honestly don't remember if it was there before I sent it in or not. Either way, it looks (and if I run my finger over it, it feels) like it was originally there, so I'm not sweating it.

What about the laptops???? MBP's haven't been updated once and iMacs have been getting all the love. Count it!
Well, the iMacs haven't been updated once since they were released. This is the first update. The MBPs have been given speed bumps so I don't know what you are talking about. I'm sure the MBPs will be give C2D soon.

Finally the truth. I know because I've been using 3G phones since the first day AT&T rolled them out. Call quality was immediately improved as was data transfer speeds. The various phones sold in those years all demonstrated the distinct advantage.
Apple and their biased partners in the blogosphere are the masters of spin.
Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Apple enthusiast, but I'm a bigger supporter of the truth.
Hopefully when the day arrives that Jobs moves on, integrity, ethics and truth will be allowed back into the organization.
What is the truth exactly? I understand what you mean that 3G was more along then some think but I get the impression (and I could be wrong) that you are saying that it is Apples fault for AT&Ts network issues?

That thread is full of some of the most comical and short sighted statements you'll ever see. Good thing Steve Jobs obviously knew what he was doing a lot more than the forum posters of the time did. That's why I laugh at some of the more critical comments you see on some of the threads today as well. In 10 years they'll look just as comical and short sighted as those do I'm sure.

Where is my 2 lb Apple laptop? Sony has one. Panasonic has one.
Apple will never make a laptop that is that size because it would mean that they would have to take out the optical drive and make the computer ultimately worthless without a docking station. Apple will never make a computer that isn't fully capable from the start.

Wow, I have already replied to this one above, but below is his brother apparently.
So even though I have a MBP and not a PB I can probably get a new battery as well by changing the serial numbers despite what is really on my battery.
COOL!!!!!!!!!!
That's seriously not cool. For one, you're basically stealing someone else's replacement battery, since when they put in their number that happens to have a C instead of your B it's going to say they already sent the battery out. And second, when it comes time to return your defective battery don't you think they're going to notice it's entirely the wrong type?
Bad plan.

@OP, this is very sad. I have been with the facebook app forever. Infact I use it more often than my PC! I hope I get push notifications though...it's a shame. The fb app was the first one I got and it's without a doubt my most used app next to safari if you can consider safari an app.
*tears* that was beautiful...
Thank you! I'm glad you liked my post. Actually I think it's the best, most structured thought and post on any forum I've ever made. Was studying like crazy for an interview and did very well ~ bumped up to the last final interview today.
I agree that the Facebook app is incredibly well designed between form and function - and I hope more follow through.

Not like anyone would want to see me run around my complex naked, but I don't think we will ever see a phone out of Apple, especially at WWDC.
And no Conroe in iMac. Evar. ;)

Who knows if the story it true or not. Regardless Walmart bully's everyone, small stores who are in its path as well as suppliers. They're some suppliers who sell merchandise at Walmart at a loss just to get on their precious shelf space.

I can say with certainty that it is NOT Intel's nor AMD's fault. Megahertz is a valid benchmark for performance in the PC world. Although it may not be the end all in deciding factors which is faster, it's safe to say that a 1.4 mhz AMD is going to be faster than a 1.2mhz. When comparing megahertz to different architectures, that is where the problem lies. I don't think, however, that megahertz is a "myth". When Apple was close to wintel speeds, it was a good marketing campaign. But now with Apple so far behind, that whole slogan needs to be put to rest. PC's are ahead in all aspects except software.
When it comes to pointing the finger, I think it lies with Apple. Apple should have more of a push with the cpu manufacturers. Instead, it seems like the manufacturers are totally in controll and Apple is forced to sit on their hands. You would think Apple would develop more of a partnership, rather than being just another customer of Motorola and IBM.
In closing, I think Apple, Moto, and IBM all suck. They missed the boat and the best they can do is try to catch up. They ALL lose, along with the Apple consumers.
Just my $.02

Yes! thank you Chris. God, finally! Please all fanboiz, wake up! It is the LENS it is the quality of the sensor. More MP is not always better!! Spec heads.
Very true. My 8 year old 3.2MB Olympus takes amazing pictures as good as my much more expensive 10MP Canon SLR. Also, my GF's new phone has a 8MP camera and it's junk. My iPhone does soooo much better.
Anyway... it would be good to see more in the iPhone 5. I would love to see them put a bigger lens though. More lens would do much better in lower light.

I find that it's not as intuitive about disabling the Mini-Store. Nice. :(
I'm also happy to see that they bought the CoverFlow technology rather than stealing the features. :)
iTunes 7 has everything I was hoping it'd have! Best release of iTunes yet, I think. And the new icon is to die for -- about as nice as the original. :)
