You have to turn data off to avoid any data flow between the iPhone and the network.

Uh, no way of telling manufacturer of hd unless you go to MORE INFO on ABOUT THIS MAC menu and click on ata devices and then it will tell you.
There is no stock hd in pbs or ibooks or any Apple -- either they come oem with Hitachi, Toshiba or Fujistu from my experience.
The 12" pb shipped in Jan with a stock 60gig 5400rpm hd and you would have to do your homework on a specific machine to determine manufactuer.

As a hiring manager, all I see is the resumes that our HR department's recruiters finds and forwards to me.

Have a look at the attached project. It shows 2 windows, a PanelTest window and an "Other Window" window. You might need to Cmd+` to see both windows after running in XCode.
You'll notice that you can click the Click Me button in the other window. When you do you'll see a message in the debugger console.
If you click the Login button in the PanelTest window, a login sheet will show. While the login sheet is showing, you can't click the Click Me button in the other window.
If you untick the Sheet checkbox, the login button will show a separate modal window, as opposed to a sheet.
The guts of all this is in LoginPanelController.
Note: This is an abuse of the term Panel. The login window is not an NSPanel. It's an NSWindow. Panels are used to implement secondary windows, like the Library window in Interface Builder in XCode 3 (not like the one in XCode 4).

Why not just bootcamp windows 7 for work. Thats what I would do.
Though you can get a windows laptop for less than $500.00 nowadays.
If it were me I would just bootcamp to run windows 7 while at the office. or since you have paralells already running it, why would you need anything else.

I'm buying my first Mac, and I'd like to save a few bucks on the display. I've read good things about the Dell 2005FPW, for example, which can be had for under $600 depending on which specials they're running that week/day/hour.
Is the 20" Cinema Display that much ($400) better? They're both 20" wide aspect. Are there other displays I should look at? The widescreen part isn't the deciding factor, but I use it as a point of reference vs. the Apple display.

Yo!! I am a Switcher as of yesterday!! Instead of throwing my Compaq, I took my boyfriend's advice and bought a beautiful new 12" iBook. MacManDan is my hero - thanks honey!
Anyway, I have a concern
I'm planning on purchasing an iSight sometime in the near future because my current webcam isn't mac compatible. I'm addicted to this dumb program called ivisit (www.ivisit.com), but I'm not sure if the iSight will be compatible.
Does anyone have an iSight and know if it works with ivisit? Thanks!

Look into Pump Audio or Crucial Music. If you're looking at smaller-budget projects, there are plenty of independent musicians/bands out there who are willing to work something out. What do you have in mind?

LOL!! You know what I mean! :D After all, at least I didn't say "you may get responses from prettier people with this tip!" :D
That I wouldn't have a problem with though, as there are a lot of prettier people out there, even though it is a small planet. My credo, scio nescio, also applies to superficial body structures. Or something like that. Off to bake some cake. Or something similar.

I threw the folding@space onto my work Dell (I citrix in, so I don't really need a lot of CPU power to do that) and put it on the Mac Rumors team... (Yes, I'm running a Dell on the MR team, sorry)
Anyway, prior to F@H I've never heard the fan kick in on this thing and now with fan full blast full time, it runs too hot to 'lap' with anymore.
Is there anyway to run the client but have it go a little easier on the folding, so I might have other kids some day?

on apple.com, with this new .8 update, one of the key points is
- improved file sharing and directory services for mixed Mac and PC networks
Welll i use PC & Mac at home. and after taking this update on the mac, i tried to transfer a 100meg file today, and it wasn't moving fast at all!
Now im using a wireless network with the mac, but 40min to move 100megs? Its normaly alot faster then that, and this has happened after this update.
I have searched a couple post on the site regarding .8 update, however did not see anything regarding my problem.
Can anyone shed some light?
thanks
