Ignorance of the law and/or terms of the contract does not equal being vindicated.

Good luck with that. There's really nothing else for me to add. If you want to rant, post and have your go at a lawsuit - go for it. Have fun. Just don't expect to win.

PS - just because you keep stating things as fact doesn't make it fact. Good luck with that too.

i just cleaned out of the the computers at work. and the person had the installer window still open. they pressed ok but because they had 10 other windows open they really did not realize they authorized it to install.

it is not that they did not authorize it's that their computer had soo much stuff on they did not realize they authorized it.

AT&T MUST fix their accounting before they have a moral leg to stand on to pull a stunt like this.

For those of you complaining about the theft of service, how about the theft of money from the customer by AT&T?

    Two separate issues.

ATT can prove if you're tethering or not. This has nothing to do with how much data you are or are not using.

Even if you use 1KB via tether and you aren't on their plan - they have a leg to stand on.

"Android to Surpass iPhone in Market Share by 2012?"

Wow. Boring, baseless prediction. Everyone will forget it since it won't come to be. If by some remote chance it comes to be then they get to claim they made the prediction. This is hocus-pocus. They create a large base line of many varied predictions so that later they can claim accurate prediction. Typical of soothesayers and investment bankers.

Apple already seems to have lost some parts of the European market with the 3GS because they didn't add the features that are frequently used there (like HSUPA, (r)SAP, etc.). For example GFK numbers showed that the Android based HTC Hero outsold the 3GS in Germany.

I have no clue if this is true, BUT, this is what Apple needs to deal with. Cell phones are cut-throat, and certain areas demand certain features. If you are going to compete globally and long term, you need to be ready to play ball.

Which means, looking at what is coming from your competitors and matching them with features, not relying on the user experience. And a year is huge in phone life cycle.

Otherwise, give up on the PHONE and concentrate on the Touch... let the phone follow it. A Touch with a phone if you want it.

I don't think we are going to see a drop in data charges anywhere though.... even if it comes to Verizon in the US. Everyone charges mostly the same thing...

Please explain to me how I am experiencing a "degraded" experience on my current Android phone?

I can do everything your iPhone can, plus tether at no additional cost and download any song I want for free.

Ease of use in Android is just as simple as an iPhone, with the ability to customize IF YOU SO PLEASE.

So if you would, cut the degraded experience crap.

Except for the inferior interface, battery life, apps and usability you mean.. Otherwise they are exactly the same!

    - They've indirectly caused the deaths of thousands of starving Africans by preventing the development of genetically-engineered foods.

Do be frank you're talking crap!

There is more than enough food being produced and, more importantly, wasted to ensure that nobody goes to bed with an empty stomach. The reason millions, not thousands, of Africans have died, and continue to do so, are varied and complex.

But to simplify, as you have, surely the blame lies with corrupt African governments that line their own pockets with Western aid whilst their population die of disease and hunger? To 'save' Africa, the leadership needs to be strong, and it's main aim must be the well-being and protection of it's citizens.

GM foods will not save Africa and Greenpeace is not in any way responsible for the death of Africans from starvation for opposing GM research.

I have never had a single call dropped. Here in Orlando I get full service and data speeds of about 450Kb p/s!

    Haha

See my post later on about this subject. Again, what a shame that we Americans actually think this is acceptable. That speed is pitiful for a 3G network. I will say it here, as I've said a million times other places, the speeds are just too slow and don't measure up. My partner lives in Ottawa, Canada. On June 24, during mid morning, he received download speed of 6 Mbps. During the evening, he receives speeds in the 7-9 Mbps range.

A fast enough Pentium will beat a 1.25GHz G4. How fast the Pentium has to be appears to be a point of contention... but that's all it is... as long as people keep it civil... it's cool.

Besides, alex_ant's post was a joke. Slow down, and read the intent of the posts.

Right, schools should teach you how to think. Besides, what a kid learns at age 7 will be somewhat obsolete by the time she enters the work force at 24, seventeen years later. For all we know, she could be given a Linux box at that time, or a Chrome PC, or a Mac, or something not even invented yet instead of a Windows box.

A lot can change in almost 20 years.

I use HandyLight to tether, but only occasionally. I wonder if they can detect that. I don't know what method the jailbreak way uses.

They can detect in a lot of way, for instance since you can't use flash on an iphone or iPad, if they see lots of flash stuff they you are probably tethering, also certain popular sites detect mobile devices and send the mobile version of the site if you are loading the full versions of those sites they could detect tethering, these are only a couple of simple things but there are plenty more, so I don't think this is going to be limited to the latest iOS.

Just my thought on the matter.

Is that a prerequisite? I have Apple battery charger.

LMAO! I have an Apple sticker a friend gave me, does that count? :D

What's wrong with that? I may not own a particular product but like being in X products forums to learn about it.

I find that it's a great way to learn about products that I'm interested in.

Well, this is still playing out.

a japanese meterology institute estimates the chances of 7.0+ earthquake within the next 3 days at 70% so we will see how well they hold up

(even in europe some nuclear power plants are build rather close to minor seismic fault lines: for example in switzerland and germany)

I was assuming this "family of four" included younger kids (possibly one age 4 and one age 9). ...They do watch a boatload of TV. Between the two of them they could easily watch 8 different series.

    Now for the parents...
I would assume they each have one or two daily show(s) that they like to watch (which is where I was counting most of the monthly cost). For example, "The Daily Show" is $20 a month multiplied by 3 different shows, equals $60/month. Plus, it would also be expected that they should watch a few series (probably at least 5 between the two).

Perhaps it was a exaggeration, but I think I proved my original point that buying your TV shows from iTunes could easily exceed your monthly cable bill (maybe not for a single person, but once you get a whole family watching TV, it isn't that hard).

...Plus, how do you get your local/national news and sports shows? ...and no, news & sports "highlights" from iTunes don't count.

Dude. If this is your family, you need to be watching less TV and getting outside more. Or at least stay inside and play board-games with the kids. It's much more fun than vegging out on the couch.

geeze. Yeah, if I watched that much TV, I'd be complaining about the iTS too!

Funny. I find you to be the second most bigoted person I've seen so far on this thread. But that's just like, my opinion.

Calling you out on your religious garbage is not bigoted.

It's merely pointing out that until you provide some evidence for the existence of your invisible god, it might be a good idea to stop treating people like second-class humans based on the writings of 1st century nomads who didn't know enough about the realities of the universe to keep their food supplies away from their toilets.

It's pointing out that this Earth is littered with the bones of people who have been killed in the name of what you find 'sacred'.

    Another one...

You didn't even read that article did you?

Those "servers": each server has two Intel Quad-Core Processors running at 50W, 24GB of memory and a 120GB disk drive. Sounds like a nicely packed PC doesn't it?
    oh wait...
    What IS a server??

Definition: A network server is a computer designed to process requests and deliver data to other (client) computers over a local network or the Internet.

If everybody thought like most people in this board, the world would be a more scarier (if possible) place to live in...

I wonder if Dell rated highly because of that battery thing

That's the Kentsfield chip not the Clovertown (Xeon) CPU but the benchmarks are interesting.

Just as expected the Quad cores are only going to be a big improvement for the software that can utilize them. Software will catch up with multicores, hopefully by Q2 07 when I'll be buying a new machine.A significant amount of multimedia related software already will use more than two cores and can be run simultaneously to easily hose an 8-core Mac Pro now.

I had not even been born when Chernobyl happened so I know very little about how it affected us. Like others have said, it's safe as long as it is used by responsible country. From what I've read, Chernobyl used ancient and much more vulnerable technology than today's plants use plus they were performing some kind of an experiment which fought against safety rules.

Yes, Chernobyl (a level 7 disaster) is the worst nuclear power disaster to date, but it was caused by massive negligence and using technology that was considered unsafe in the West. The incident in Japan was nothing like this at all.

A nuclear plant had what is classified as the International Nuclear Event Scale as a "level 4 accident" following an enormous earthquake and then a tsunami. The Japanese government have reacted swiftly and evacuated people. The levels of radiation released are nothing to panic about.

I'd love to see a world powered by wind, sun and rainbows but that isn't realistic yet. I'd much rather we move away from fossil fuels to nuclear and renewable, and slowly shifting the balance further towards renewables over time as technology improves.
