Completely misleading. iPad runs a mobile OS that's much less CPU intensive. The iPad is not five times slower in performing everyday tasks like web browsing, e-mail, word processing, etc.

I guess I should have searched first, but it didn't occur to me that anyone else would have proposed something this otw. :o

Maybe when I actually get my backwards compatible Xbox 360 and PS3, I'll be more willing to throw caution to the wind and give this a go. For now, I'll leave it for braver folk than I.

I'm freakin sick of the ITMS.

I love iTunes and my iPod, but purchasing music that can only be put on an iPod is crap. There may be a better player out later which I want to go to and then *poof* my ITMS purchased tracks are crap.

    www.allofmp3.com

    It's (significantly) cheaper.

    It's better.

    'Nuff said.

Not only is that site a pirate site but I personally know many people who run very small independent record labels that have stuff on there without permission.
Avoid these jokers at all costs.

There are legitimate drm-free places to buy digital music.

dynamicvworking out the key from the lock and pass onto another locksmith to make an exact copy to open a house or allow others to tour your house for free is not wrong? gee, what's the point of the lock on you door? what's the point of any password on your keychain (access)?

Stop trying to fight DRM, ignore it or don't buy the crap in the first place

It's a poor analogy because it's actually my door I'm trying to open (I bought the tracks).

    Fair use!

AllofMP3 is exactly how all music selling sites should be. The possibility to choose exact what quality you want is great, no DRM is great, the price is of course also great.
If only the artists would get paid it would be perfect.

If you're going to "steal" music just use limewire or soulseek. Why pay someone to steal it for you? I don't understand.

    Personally I would have gotten a g5 (probably the cheapest model) and a cheap-ass LCD, like a Gateway FPD1830 (18.1" - $400).

But that is more expensive, less RAM, etc.

You made a pretty good purchase.

    Enjoy your new computer :).

I think at this point it would be a terrible move not to do some sort of redesign to the 4. It at bare minimum needs a bigger screen and I am sure it will already have more ram and the A5 if not dual A5's. So really, what's the point of releasing another iphone if all your gonna do is change the processor and ram? The phone is not sluggish or anything now so why even waste the time? I think it would be a bad move to not move up with the screen size, at least to 4 inches.

Looking at iPhone history, and MBP history, I think it's very likely that the next iPhone is just an internal spec bump. They've changed the design language with iPhone 4. They're not going to change it again 12months later.

I don't see how raising Bill Gates' personal income tax affects Microsoft as a company though.

It probably wouldn't, but taxing him through the nose doesn't fit with the idea of rewarding success. Perhaps a better approach would be to incentivise charitable donations and working with charitable organisations.

reports are indicating that the remaining lineup of macs will be refreshed within the next couple months.

Not knowing when is that "next couple months" is very painful... :(

They better not, I just bought mine 3 days ago!

You should've read the buyer's guide page first.

This will be my first MAC too.

The macbook should be updating soon but I personally would rather develop on a macbook air rather than a macbook. Only problem depending on how much code you have to write is the small screen with the entry level macbook air.

The reason I would rather develop on a macbook air is simply because it runs mundane tasks at a much higher speed than the macbook. I would assume you are going to use xcode which does not take much cpu power but it does take a use a significant amount of Hard drive usage.

If you do get an air make sure to buy the 4GB of ram as it is not user upgradable.

I agree with the small screen.
Even though I'm always "on the go" but small screen will not be so convenient.

After re-thinking my decision I end up ordering a Macbook Pro instead, the cheapest I can get plus I'm eligible for Education discount since I'm a university student. :D

If you just want a PPC to play with, get a powermac, they are very cheap. In my opinion, G4 laptops are way over priced, unless you get lucky, like I did with my iBook. I also bought a Powermac 933 mgz Quicksilver, with Leopard installed for only $50.

    That was a steal

OK, so a couple of months ago I started noticing that I wasn't receiving email reminders on events I created in my Google calendar. I of course google'd the problem and found out others had the same issue. The popular suggestion was to go to Calendar settings and remove the email notifications and then add them back. Sort of like rebooting the calendar and its reminders, I guess. It actually worked....until now.

Of course the day I had a credit card payment due is the day the email reminders failed to work again. I received no email reminder whatsoever (I always have two set up). I'm frustrated. I did the "reboot" thing again so I hopefully don't miss another upcoming event, but I'm seriously thinking of ditching google calendar all together and using something else. The thing is, I have no idea what's a good alternative.

Any suggestions on a good online calendar? What do you guys use?

I don't know, I could see apple doing a quad core if they could get the battery life so what manageable. And I don't think a 4 inch screen is that noticeable from just holding the phone, but it makes a world of difference when your watching something or even just browsing. I think 4.3 is almost to big even though I have a Thunderbolt as well and its a beefy phone but I think 4 inches would be almost perfect for this phone. The question is how many people want to have a bigger phone? I don't know if it will be bigger or not but I don't think a bigger sized phone is a always a good idea. Not saying a small increase in screen size (not resolution) will not happen I just don't want my iPhone becoming an iPad mini!

FYI the A5 CPU is already dual core chip, so I think there is no way the iPhone 5 will be a dual A5 (making it a Quad core CPU) for a mobile phone. I don't think the vastly smaller battery in the phone compared to the iPad could handle it!

I read both the files, i understand. But how can i see how my pictures where imported? I already had folders with pictures that i just dragged into the library. I cant recal seeing anything like referenced or managed masters?

    thanks :)

(edit) in the import settings it is set as ''Store files: in the aperture library''

That's explained in the first link.

Select Manage referenced files from Apertures file menu

In Aperture 3 I think that they may have changed it to "Located Referenced Files...". Still under the File menu though.

You would read the XML file like a text file, not into an XML reader. That way you could just do something like this:

    $xmlstr = file_get_contents('an.xml');
    $result = preg_replace("#<LineStatus ID=\"1\".*?</LineStatus>#si", "", $xmlstr);
// save $result to file or whatever.

So you cant really touch the front of this thing coz it will do something...... I cant really put it in my pocket, especially if the hold button isnt physical...

There could still be a physical hold button. The drawing only shows the front face, not the top or bottom. Obviously the headphone jack and dock port will be on the top or bottom. What's the point of a hold button if it isn't physical anyway??

The store's about 40 miles from me. I'm actually thinking of calling in and doing the shipping-based repair just because the drive is such a hassle.

Yuck. Yeah, if you can manage without the computer for a week, that seems like the easier option.

I was at the ATL airport teaching a training class for our employees. We heard something about a plane and checked CNN online, from there is all went downhill fast. I remember calling to check on friends at other airports to make sure they were OK. I had friends at JFK, and EWR that were all very involved.

Being a the busiest airport in the world when all of the planes were grounded was very bizarre. I went up to the Tower and there were planes everywhere on the ground, but none were taking off or landing, which is absolutely unheard of in ATL.

I knew that day that my life was changed forever, and that our industry was in a fight for its life. The airlines have never recovered, and may never. Not just because of 9/11 itself, but fuel (which is a by product) and other factors.

We will probably file bankruptcy this week, and more job cuts and pay cuts are coming.
