The cache alone doesn't explain that particular benchmark, as overall speed increase clock for clock is only 10%. I haven't seen the 1.83 tested so can't comment.

Completed the game on Heroic with a couple of friends...the last few missions were very good...will try to do it on Legendary over the next few weeks...
I'm growing more and more disenchanted with Multi-player though...I'd rather pop in Halo 3...the game variants and maps are much more enticing...

If Apple OC doesn't come up with a solid reason as to why Canada or the US need to maintain a large standing military with enormous costs (such as threat level etc.) I am going to call troll.

I used to think the same way. 2 kids off to college, money is tight but I gave them each their choice of laptops:
1.) kid#1 chose a Dell because she <gasp> liked Vista :eek:
2.) kid#2 chose the plain old white macbook
3 years later, guess which one is currently crap? Seriously, Kid#1 comes home one day, opens up her Dell and she's got 3 keys missing one of which is the Enter key - has no clue where they went. :D Also, the battery is lasting a full 20 minutes and the DVD drive is kaput. The damn thing creaks and moans more than my arthritic joints.
Now, the lowly white macbook looks like it's been used as a door mat (which I polished up for kid #2 in about 5 minutes) but it works flawlessly.
Really... don't rationalize the cost. Kids are tough on these things and you aren't always there to "learn 'em" how to handle them. A well built mac + Applecare is a pretty secure future for their learning experience.
who cares? dell's are cheap enough that you can buy a 15" model every year and after 3 years still spend less $$$ than a MBP with Apple Care

I just bought a Macbook Pro literally 5 minutes ago. I've been waiting for months and I finally gave up. After the order was completed, I thought I'd check macrumors just for laughs and the first thing I saw was, "new macbook pros tomorrow?" :(

i think that since you can create your own pics, movies, podcasts, and text for the i pod know, that they will let you expand your ilife tools to create pdf too without having to buy them.

Meanwhile Dell and HP are seeing increased market share with decreased units sold. So the market share for these two will likely increase at the expense of other companies doing more poorly. But there will likely be another Windows PC manufacturer that will pick up steam with a gimmicky ad campaign and bring them back to around 25% market share.
Regardless of OS, I'd hate to see the market share of any one company increase to 50% or have only three manufacturers dominate by a large margin.
What I'd like to see are statistics on resale value. How many used PCs by HP, Dell, Apple, etc. are resold and for what percentage of the original value? You see this with automobiles. New cars advertise resale value.

I have a screw in the bottom middle of my MacBook, but I honestly don't remember if it was there before I sent it in or not. Either way, it looks (and if I run my finger over it, it feels) like it was originally there, so I'm not sweating it.

I have no doubt's that this will be resolved in time. In the mean time, I don't have any of the problems that the new IOS 4.3.1 fixes on my Verizon iPhone. ;):apple:

Hopefully it will come out within a fortnight otherwise it will be a long wait to MWSF :( I envisage just increased HD and possibly 1GB ram standard if it comes out within the fortnight. But if the C2D Macbook comes out MWSF there better be some decent upgrades! Maybe dedicated graphics card or at least the X3000.

Back in the final days of Logic Pro 7 I was considering buying it. It was incredibly powerful but really deep and with a clunky GUI to boot. My procrastination paid off.
Within months Logic Pro 8 came out and they simplified the GUI to be like GarageBand (and oh how all the "Pros" did moan...but only for awhile) and cut the price from $999 to $499. I jumped on it and never looked back.
And now the same sort of thing is happening to FCP. All the power (fingers crossed) but with a much better GUI (yes, sort of like iMovie but only on the surface....just like with Logic Pro and Garageband).
Jumping into this will be a no-brainer for me whereas with the old FCP I would have never "bit".
Give the "Pros" time to come around. A lot of the resistance evaporates over time. Yes, there are actually some people who like difficult programs because then they join the "priesthood" of "those in the know" and get all puffed up.

I vehemently disagree with the way Bungie ups the "Difficulty" in this game.
Totally agree. I breezed through the heroic setting but now in legendary its taking me three times as long to get where I am. I've found that in the legendary mode you pretty much have to rely on the armor options just to get through certain sections. One great thing I realized the other day is that the drop shield power up or whatever its called also restores your health which is awsome.
It is rediculous how hard it is to kill elites. If you stick a grenade to their backs it doesn't even break their shields! What the hell is that? A couple of plasma rifle shots and kick to the chest will pretty much kill me everytime. Either way I like the challenge so I'm going to keep plugging along.

Just typing crap in cause you want a free battery (or even changing your number so other people's stop working). I hope Apple catches on to you and charges you when you get your battery and they don't get the recalled one.

I don't play Halo multiplayer for a couple of reason. The main one being that i suck at it. But the other reason is the wait time to get into a game and then out of it to get into another. I dont have that problem with Modern Warefare 2 so I am just wondering if its me and my crappy connection or what?
I've never had much issue with the time finding a match, either starting out, or between games. I think the default timer between games is a 45 seconds. They give a little time so people can drop out if they want, check stats, etc. After that, it will start the search for however many people are needed. Keep in mind though, if you have specified any settings within your game search (skill, connection, language), it will take longer for their servers to find an appropriate match for you.
I don't know if you like Firefight mode, but they have matchmaking available for that. That way, you aren't competing against other people, so you shouldn't feel too outclassed. And since the max players for that is 4, it finds matches super quick. Maybe give that a shot and see how it goes.
