There are lots of free services out there although maybe none that will be seamless as an Apple offering. Free is only free if you want to be bombarded with ads Google style. So far I don't see any value in the service based on rumors so I will wait for the official word before making my opinion known.

    THIS IS DISGRACEFUL !!!!!!!!!

With AT&T being the cell phone carrier that charges the most, they should be EXPECTED to provide the best quality service in the industry. If AT&T thinks 30% of all calls being dropped is "normal," this is absolutely unacceptable! So this means that of every ten phone calls to 911, 3 being dropped is "normal" and acceptable????? And major corporations with thousands of employees are supposed to sign up for cell service with AT&T, knowing that 30% of all calls (with customers) being dropped is, in AT&T's eyes, acceptable????????

Maybe we should just grab a couple of iphones for...ahem....testing purposes! :)

I have high-precision digital calipers, but only a black phone.

The only reason I found this interesting is the why. If the white phone is thicker, why is it thicker? Different camera vendor (since that's the thickest internal component)? Insulation on the antenna? Different battery? Thicker paint coating to prevent light leaks?

I couldn't care less about the fact that it might be thicker, only the reason. Alas, I don't think it is. Maybe only enough for the paint explanation.

And this is exactly why we will know in advance the arrival of the iPhone. If the FCC must approve it, someone will find the filling online a month before its release.

As for the mouse itself, I reiterate that the Mighty Mouse is a crippled piece of hardware. My Kensington wireless studio mouse has served me well for the past two years. What is Apple's problem with making hard-to-use mice then supposedly "innovating" them into seemingly MORE unbearable creatures?!

I'd like a simple two-button mouse with a simple scroll wheel. Is that so much to ask, Apple?

Wow, amazing how emotional people always get whenever I make a statement that could sound slightly anti-iPod... I know you love your iPod and all (I am very fond of mine myself), but over the last few years Apple has been focusing a dispropotional amount of energy into their cute little gadget which has massively boosted their profits. For those of us that don't salivate over all things iPod, I think this is too bad.

    That is all.

I don't even *own* an iPod, but I still think you're off base and aren't seeing the big picture. Thank goodness the people that run Apple don't think like you. Apple is focusing on these gadgets (iPod, Airport/AirTunes, iTV, iPhone) that aren't even Mac-centric, because they are *immensely* adding to Apple's reputation for innovation, style, and ease-of-use. These are attributes that translate directly to marketing the Mac. The iPod halo effect has been slow in coming but it *is* real. And it's soon to be followed by the iTV and iPhone halo effect. I think Apple will continue to make gains in the home market with their MacBooks. And maybe the iTV will help the Mac Mini take off as a media center computer. iMacs and Mac/Book Pros are always going to be a tougher sell because of their higher cost. But it's Apple's success in the broader consumer market that is allowing it to also stay in the niche high-end computer market...

I am not too keen on this "cartoony" 3D effect Apple seem to be going for.

Torn off pages… faux-leather binding… I mean doesn't anyone else think it is a bit corny?
It really does seems as if the cutesyeness of the iOS is spreading over to OSX.

I'd prefer a clean modern OS with usability first and foremost.

    Screw the gratuitous eyecandy…

    Ok, I'm convinced.

Also, comparing a product that hasn't been released yet to a product that hasn't been announced yet is a rather weak argument and makes zero sense.

Very funny retort to another Droidhead. These guys make the most ridiculous

Okay, they fixed the Portal, so I was able to download it, a 79.4MB file, lets see how this runs compared to parallels.
Post screenshots if you can! :)

Is this for Intel Macs only or will it work on PPC too?

Intel Macs only. I'm pretty confident that anything involved with running Windows on a PPC Mac is dead by now

Not surprising the iPhone 3GS was #2.

Not surprising...because it sells for $49?

If I were in the market for a smartphone and could choose a $49 iPhone 3GS vs. a $199+ iPhone 4 vs. a $199+ Android...I would very very seriously consider the 3GS since it is AT LEAST 4x cheaper...and in reality, does 99% of the iPhone 4 (I have the 3GS and as far as I can tell the 4 simply added Facetime and a front camera for facetime use).

    Disappointing.

Your 4G on your evo cant hold LTEs underpants :p I have the thunderbolt and while it has its flaws, LTE isnt one of them. Battery would fit the bill for a problem though, however, I got the extended battery. While bulky, worth it.

Nice! Is this a French market stall? If it is, a lot of care has been taken to lay out the bars of soap attractively when you think it's all taken down at the end of the day. There were some good photo opportunities at the market in St Rmy if you get the chance.

Ah, late Spring flowers! I love irises. You've got the focus spot on in the throat. Your season's a bit ahead of ours, unless you're growing them somewhere very sheltered.

I can't wait for Lion. Like a lot of people, I was first brought into the Apple world by iPhone/iOS, so bringing successful elements of iOS over to the Mac sounds like a great idea to me.

iCal doesn't even look that bad, IMO (not the most "professional" look, maybe). I'm really curious to see whether Apple will change it given the bad feedback it seems to be receiving (here, at least).

This new service sounds pretty poor tbh. I probably wouldn't use it even if it was free.

Main reason being the places I wish I had a certain album with me tend to get hardly any phone signal anyways, let alone a 3g connection fast enough to stream music. Also the charges for going over your data limit are hilariously high. Stream a movie or two, a couple of albums and a tv show and my data is done for the month?

Also I think cloud storage is great as part of a back-up solution for my professional work, though I feel it is kind of lackluster for consumer use. Sure the tech-savvy elite may have some use for it. Sure its nice to know some of your precious documents, photos are somewhere safe if the worst happens.

$1000 worth of a beating he'd get if i were his parent. Luckily for kids, i hate them and would never have one. Ever.

Had I done this as a kid, I would have been beaten for it.
Not like bamboo cane or whip beating though, just paddle and maybe belt beating. TBH, in retrospect it really wasn't that bad, and I really did learn to be a pretty decent human being. I turned out just fine too, in fact, I'd like to think better than some of my peers. But that's a bit pretentious, so I digress.

There's obviously a large debate over child punishment though, with adamant supporters on either side of the fence. Which one is right is really a gray zone in my opinion, and while I would like to think soft punishment would be sufficient for my future kids, I definitely see the use for the other side. I think moderation is key in this area; I mean you don't want to see kids running around wild, but at the same time you shouldn't beat your kid senseless. Unfortunately, in today's society everything is construed as child abuse, and I fear that we have strayed a little too far left towards "soft" punishment. But that's just me, I'm sure many of you feel differently.

That was a little off topic.

90 day refund policy w/ iTunes, if I do recall correctly; but I'm sure there's many caveats.
