The sort of money you put down on a Mac you shouldn't expect anything less than USB 3.0 from here on out. Core 2 Duo in 2010 leaves a lot to be desired.
This is pretty academic, since you've always paid a premium for the Apple logo. Rarely does a Mac laptop have cutting edge hardware across the board (see the graphics cards in laptops for an example of something that seems always a generation or more behind). The sad reality is that even though you're right, they'll continue to sell those laptops at a prodigious rate. Most people don't care about technical specs as much as they do the overall user experience.

You know, this is a question that I've been wanting to ask for a long time, and this is not directed only at you, but to all responses similar to yours I've seen on such topics. It's an honest question I have, because it just blows my mind:
What the hell kind of relationship do you people have with your spouses?? I mean, seriously??! You need their explicit PERMISSION to buy something you want, with your money, and it gets to their point of people BEGGING their wives to let them buy something, only to be turned down?! How the hell do you get yourself into this kind of dynamic? The only plausible reason that a wife may be against it is if you guys are so short on cash, that $500 will break the account and drive you into poverty? And if this is the case, then you people should have a bit more responsibility than to beg your wives to let you buy something that you clearly can't afford. If you CAN afford it, and it is your $$, then why the hell do you even need to ask your wife in the 1st place, and what right does she have to refuse you? Do your wives make all the money? An iPad isn't a car or a house that needs to be a consensual and debated purchase. Your wife shouldn't have the ability (nor the desire) to stop you from buying one.
This is honestly something that Id like an answer to. Some of you seem to have a 'child/parent' relationship, instead of husband/wife. If she's the breadwinner of the house, and you mooch of her, fine I'd understand. But if you bring in the $$? Sounds like a disturbing and cold relationship. Why does she get to dominate you and dictate your decisions, void of any debate or discussion?

what i Love about the iPod is that it is undefined, sure originally released as a music player but it truly has unlimited possibilities. I just wish Apple would speed things up.

Whats a guess on price for a fully loaded 23' Imac ?
Unless it contains features that are superior to the 20" iMac (i.e. faster processor, dual hard drives, more ram slots, better video card options), I'd hope for a 2099 release price (or a 100-dollar drop on all iMacs, and a 1999 price).

Can you imagine what this wireless zuneing feature will be like in the real world? I bet they haven't come up with a way to make the wireless feature only try talking to the zune you want it to, so it'll try talking to any other zune within the proximity of the wireless transmission capability.
You'll be walking down a crowded street in a hurry trying to get your music playing when all of a sudden a box will pop up over your interface "User s8trBoi wants to send you the song "Skate or Die" by "The Snotty Adolescent Band." I think you're over analyzing this situation. It is one that is purely BUSINESS.
Intel has AMD as direct competition, causing a "space race" sort of 'speed race', they keep topping eachother in speed and proccesses. Both are forced to innovate to remain competitive; and even in the PC world, it is a hard choice whether to choose Intel or AMD for your processor.
With Apple as their primary and only customer for the Mac specific chip, Motorolla has no need to innovate, there is no fire under ass, so to speak.
Basically, they don't care because they don't have to. And it is not Apple's "fault", but rather a credit that they have standerdized on one processor; but that is a convenience and a privelage for Apple, only because there is no other maker at the moment. I'm sure if there was, there would be court cases similar to Microsoft is in about anti-competiveness of Motorolla :P.
Motorolla has a pure monopoly on a private platform; if Apple were still licensing, and you could buy Umax, SuperMac and other Mac Clones, I'm 100% positive There'd be 4Ghz Macs by now, because those companies would strive to compete with Apple.

Apple does not care to support flash on their devices because it is horribly inefficient and has been holding back progression of the internet for over a decade. Instead of using much more efficient open standards that the world wide web is founded upon, companies like Adobe and Microsoft are more interested in locking you into their inferior technologies in order to maintain revenue! Until Flash dies Apple will continue to support the progression of the internet using approved standards!

Unfortunately I think 80% of iPad 2 supply is going to scalpers and resellers, the moment Apple stores get them in stock they sell out and craigslist is then flooded with heavily marked up iPads. It's kind of ridiculous.
On a related note, isn't it a bit weird Apple hasn't announced any sales figures yet? They're usually quick to brag when devices hit a million sales in a short amount of time.

That is what people aren't understanding. They see something and imagine it being the same design despite function changing. If they do touchscreen, it won't be long (if not instant) before they redo how it sits on the table.
A design that allows the screen to go relatively flat and vertical is necessary. This design should have been done already 3 years ago.

Well, I think you said "maybe," but it's all good now. I will put the Plextor DVD-RW Drive in the bottom bay. Question though, I have Toast 7 for Power PC, but will it work alright under rosetta, or do I have to buy a Universal Binary?No I most certainly did not say "maybe". I said "definitely". does anyone know exactly how much thinner the new nanos are? im sure it is just a few centimeters, if not millimeters but i am still curious.

I installed Core Duo Temp bofore I updated my Macbook firmware. I got a logic board and heastsink replancement (and a lot more apparently... the list is pretty long, looks like they changed everything except RAM and HDD). Core Duo temp reported 10*C core temperature (90 % CPU at 2 GHz). It used to be in the 60s before that... After the firmwareupgrade the report was correct again (60*C).
PS: I have a screw in the middle of the bottom. Dunno if it has always been there. It could inded have been addd to hold the new (different) logic board and the heatsink in place so both won't touch ach other. But it doesn't look like it was added afterwards... is there anyon who didn't get his macbook repaired yet have this screw too? It's exactly in the centre of the shell on the bottom of the case. Just beeing curious. :-)

Source you are absolutely pathetic yourself. Mac users, like myself, have to defend our machines. You idiots who use pc's just dont get it. You bash macs evey chance you get and i just wonder how many have actually used one for an extended period of time. You cant honeslty tell me that the very first time you used a pc you were able to figure everything out. I cant tell if it was your first machines but i will tell you this. People who use macs for the first time generally have an easier time than pc users do.
Now think that over and realise. it is a personal preference. Not a defining factor of who a person is.
