As for British blacks having it easy, I don't think you would find many of them agreeing with that.

In what sense? Before and after the great war I'd agree, but today I don't entirely see why you'd think this. As i mentioned before, I think britain is the most tolerant country with regards to accepting Blacks, the same can't be said with places like Italy or spain in western Europe and certainly not eastern Europe/Russia. So yes, I don't understand the concept of Blacks having it hard today in Britain other than living in poverty (which, by the way, isn't anywhere near as bad as other European countries where the average income is lower and much greater racial discrimination).

That's seriously not cool. For one, you're basically stealing someone else's replacement battery, since when they put in their number that happens to have a C instead of your B it's going to say they already sent the battery out. And second, when it comes time to return your defective battery don't you think they're going to notice it's entirely the wrong type?

    Bad plan.

Below is my original post to the first person who decided to change his serial number to get a free battery:

This sounds to me like Wal-Mart might be angling to get in on the online movie store business. They're certainly not going to stop selling movies, but I can see them pressuring studios to partner with them (exclusively) for some sort of online download service.

As for Wal-Mart, the company, it's power and influence on business markets in this country is not so much a commentary on itself, but instead, on society. The fact is there are a lot of poor people in this country who need cheap goods and services and Wal-Mart affords that to them. You take that away and something else will replace it.

    There's a Go7300 though :p

Although... I'd rather see a Go 7600 or Mobile x1800 in the MBPs...

Despite the name, the GeForce 7300GT is actually a variant of the 7600 series. The GO7300 is based off the entry level 7000 series.

Interestingly the formerly complete Mac family now has a new member in the form of the 24 iMac. Be interesting to see how 'complete' the Macbook family was now...

God willing with lower prices and a GMA 15".

It's normally a silvery/metal color isn't it? - yet it's highlighted orange on the banner... I did a quick Google search and the only other image I could find featuring a similar orange icon is this one:

    http://www.bergie.iki.fi/midcom-serveattachmentguid-98144d9ca390f9ff849b5747d4621ef9/dangerous-isync-merge.jpg

I've never really used iSync though, so don't know what all this means or whether there are actually orange versions of the icon found within the app. Anyone care to shed any light?

I think the prices of Windows and OSX are quite the same. You can buy a new version of OSX more frequently for a lower price per each version, or buy a new version of Windows once and pay more for it but receive free updates/service packs for years. The yearly costs are quite the same.

The difference is Apple is actually providing leading edge desktop OS's. MS is fixing problems, or making minor improvements under duress. For example, my company was using Windows 2000, finally free of many of the real time consuming IT support nightmares due to using NT 4.0. I actually thought 2K was fairly decent. Then XP came out. We did a couple test installs. Yuk!

Systems resource usage went way up. We could not effectively run anything with less than 1GB, and that was not a common configuration back then. We had many HP PIII 550/600 Pavilions. Their performance was noticeably impacted by XP. What was worse, I did not really notice any obvious feature improvements. Then the XP SP1 horror stories began to filter in. Bottom line, we did not do any migration to XP until SP2 came out, and only did it with new computer purchases.

The timeframe for this short dissertation is approximately 6 years. I have not actually upgraded a single OS. MS has not offered an OS upgrade that was compelling enough to invest in. On the other hand, I cannot wait to buy the latest offering from Apple. The price for their innovation is cheap and I always think it was money well spent. Both MS and Apple do R&D, but it is somewhat different.

    Apple - Research & Development
    MS - Receive & Deposit

Apple will never make a laptop that is that size because it would mean that they would have to take out the optical drive and make the computer ultimately worthless without a docking station. Apple will never make a computer that isn't fully capable from the start.

Oh come on. How often do we actually have to access our optical drives? While you may do so often, many of us almost never do and would be happy to attach an external drive every now and then or even access the disc we need over the network.

The 2 lb Sonys and Panasonics are fully capable. For many of us, that is exactly what we want, and your assertion that such a machine is not 'fully capable' may be true for you and others, but for many of us, your assertion that this is 'true' is rubbish.

I've been going thru these forums for about a year now. I find good posts and opinions but I hate these snide comments from people. Not everyone is as tech savvy as many who post here. I'm sick of scrolling past these guys that have nothing better to do than mock others.

I do understand people hate for 3D displays, but people calling it a fad, it's not. Not any more anyways.
It is now a part of technological evolution for TVs and image devices.
Calling 3D a fad right now is like calling colour TV a fad in the 1950s. Just like how colour TV to start wasn't perfect, 3D isn't perfect yet either.

We all know Apple is the king of imaging technologies, they wouldn't release a product with something like a 3D screen without it being perfect and "magical".

Yeah!!! You against the world! I suppose you also write to fashion magazines, complaining that all their models have perfect, skinny bodies....

No one is making you pay for CS 5.5. Just wait and buy CS6, CS7, etc as you normally would have.

That isn't the issue mate, the issue is that Lion is around the corner and I'll bet my bottom dollar Adobe will damn well use their launch of 5.5 to justify dropping support for CS5 when it comes to Lion. So what does one do - hold back on Lion so one can keep with CS5 or upgrade to CS5.5 just to get Lion support? don't think it isn't going to happen - look at CS4 and the fact it took MONTHS for Adobe to finally fix the data corruption bug in Fireworks where it would crash on exit when running on Snow Leopard.

Sorry, I want to move to Lion as soon as it is released because there are some friggin awesome features that I really like but there are scum sucking a-holes like Adobe who will use it as yet ANOTHER reason to milk their customers.

Adobe keep whining about Apple and how they keep getting 'screwed over' and yet when are we going to see Adobe stop screwing over its customers, both Windows and Mac OS X, using the ever so slightest system change to justify charging an upgrade when what they should be doing is issuing updates and supporting their products for up to 5 years like Microsoft does (Adobe is a big enough company to carry that cost).

I think you are right. Didn't it just get axed in europe? That may lend some credence to the iSight in the Cinema Displays.

If they put an iSight in the Cinema Displays and axe the stand alone iSight that would mean you would have to buy an ACD just to use the video stuff with the Powermac/Mac pro AND the mini. I wouldn't put it past them to do that but it would kinda suck. There have also been rumors of the IR reciever for Front Row being put in the ACD. If they didn't also put one on the Mac Pro, Front Row would be useless without an ACD hooked up. I agree with the above poster that we are all reading too much into the poster but oh well, it's fun. We'll all find out soon enough.

I think one of the greatest flaws in the wireless is that the only use I can see is between friends, I have a wireless MP3 Player already (called a macbook, it's a litttle smaller than the zune ;) ) and in a CS seminar someone bluetoothed me a song, now as a Maths student I don't know the Comp Sci people so I'd never spoken to before so I rejected it, I can't believe I'd do any different if I had a Zune, unless I knew them, in which case I might as well go round with my iPod to their house ;).
