I hope Facebook will get someone else (or several people) to replace him.
I appreciate his work, and would like to see it continued despite a frustrating process.

why does it say 50% faster. i thought merom was only 20% faster than yonah?

    The comparison is between a 2.00GHz CD and a 2.33 GHx C2D.

    1.4 x faster *(2.00/2.33) = 1.2 x faster at the same clock rating

You're right. How insensitive of them to not base their business decisions on your upgrade cycle. No, wait. That's ridiculous. Never mind.

If the reports are to be believed, if they were to release iPhone 5 in June it wouldn't have LTE. You'd just be getting a slightly upgraded version of the 4. Wouldn't you rather wait another 4 months and get something much more future-proof?

As I said, they have the right to release their products when they want. I'm not suggesting that they release new updates based on my upgrade schedule. BUT, it's still not cool with ME, because of the way my upgrade schedule is falling. I get it; that's MY problem, not Apple's. But it's still a problem.

The point is that I'm gonna need a new phone soon. I'd like for that phone to be an iPhone--I love the product. But I can't see putting up with an already frustratingly slow piece of equipment for another six months in the HOPE of getting something more future-proof; especially when I have the option of purchasing something else now that is already more future-proof than the iPhone 4.

Has anyone explained WHY a June iPhone couldn't have 4G capability, when Android phones like the Atrix already do?

BTW, I'm not trying to be snarky; I just had my hopes up for a summer iPhone release (since Apple has released a new model every summer since the original). I'm just a little disappointed. Bad timing, I guess.

Now there is a logical solution

    What's illogical about it?

Why should we subsidize the defense industry, a multi-multi-billion dollar expense to our government, merely to maintain some jobs?

Please show me the evidence that demonstrates that is a positive investment for our country.

I don't get the "3D" screen thing???? My regular 1080p TV can play a 3d Movie just fine. The 3D software shared here on MacRumors didn't have any special screen... what the heck would Apple do to make it a 3D screen?

    I say "false".

Is your tv a 3D tv (most if not all need glasses) or just a regular hd tv, because if u need glasses then that is not the 3D we are talking about. Go play with a nintendo 3DS at Gamestop they have one on display to play with. There is a special type of screen that uses no glasses, also there is a regular screen in witch a camera tracks your head and the angle u are looking at the screen, then the objects in the screen will look to be "popping out" but it's just a simple eye trick and it's gimmicky.

I don't play Halo multiplayer for a couple of reason. The main one being that i suck at it. But the other reason is the wait time to get into a game and then out of it to get into another. I dont have that problem with Modern Warefare 2 so I am just wondering if its me and my crappy connection or what?

iPad page is fine in the UK here.

The store went down, back up, with NO product changes, and the MBP page still reporting C2D's as the 'new' product.

    Dismissive snort from me.

Of course, the support web site serial numbers on the batteries "no not validate" even though they are within the ranges, and the phone line is busy (probably forever).

My opinion: for anyone who bought an Apple batter from the Apple Store (online), Apple should be required to have kept the serial numbers and contact information and then NOTIFY US rather than having me waste my time trying to get through and endlessly waiting on the phone or endure a faulty web site. Such practice on Apple's part will cause many to just give up and live with a potential fire hazard. :D

ETA: Deleted my first post, as there is now an updated Apple link. :p

I'll have to check my iBook tonight, to see if I have one of the batteries. I'm guessing I do; I purchased my iBook in February and am still using the original battery. Oh well; it was ready for a new battery, anyway.

That was actually a hack of a wireless USB card, not a hack of the Mac itself; the Mac was just used for publicity. The hack only works with this wireless USB card, not with the built-in wireless. The news stories attached to this stunt were quite misleading...

Plugging a wireless USB card into any computer is just like handing a hacker your keyboard, the computer handles it just like any other input device. So, if you handed a hacker your keyboard and didn't encrypt and password protect your files, would you expect the OS to protect them?

Also if im not mistaken, the guy actually had to use the mac to get connected to the PC so really its showing us shitall!

Maybe the Facebook app will get better. Perhaps he was frustrated that someone kept pointing out all the problems with the app.

If you're going to vent your "philosophical" issues, you need to make sure that your "real world" issues are all in order first. Otherwise, you look like a sore loser.

All this moral discussion about stealing a 1500,- bucks suite of software is pretty ridiculous if you put it into a relation to the billions of dollars/euros stolen from our tax money by the private central banks.

If a corporation steals billions that's ok, but if someone pirates a single piece of software that's theft.

The same rules should apply to everyone.

Btw, I have only legit software on my computer.

    my point exactly...

I really don't get all the wankers here with all there high morals about downloading is steeling. It aint steeling, and if it was i wouldn't feel one single bit of guilt...i'm getting robed here everyday by the government, at work, hell i'm even getting robed buying grocery's...why should i be the idiot paying for something i can get for free...and don't start the "people are losing their jobs if you don't buy it" if they do than they should get in line. Here's an idea... maybe the CEO's could spare a few of their billions to help the staff out and make them keep their job...

    Don't blame Adobe for speed

Adobe didn't write Flash. Macromedia did. Adobe bought Macromedia a few years ago (mostly because they thought Microsoft was going to) and has had to rework their products.

Adobe is redoing Flash for mobile

Which is a good thing. Adobe is working with ARM cpu and gpu makers to create this new Flash 10 for mobile devices.

    The real Internet uses Flash

Don't get us started again on the webpages (NY Times, National Geographic) that Apple has retouched the Flash out of, before public demos, to hide the fact that Safari can't show them completely.

    HTML5 won't stop popup ads

If the W3C hadn't screwed around for so many years, HTML5 could've been more adopted by now. Heck, is there even a video playback codec standard yet?

In any case, ad companies will always figure out something, whether it's Flash, DHTML, or whatever.

Don't like it? Most likely will have a switch

Who doesn't think that Flash would be an option that the user can turn off?
