are you on 4.3? netfilx released an update for 4.3 today, might be the problem
I'm JB on 4.2.1. Display out works fine with the HDMI adapter. Netflix is the only app that has problems.

When I look at the depreciation of MBP, it is much worse than a MP. For example, 2008 models of MP have depreciated by about ~50%, while MBP have depreciated ~75% for similar price starting price point of the computers.

There's no practical reason behind letting the battery completely die and then charging it to 100% like what you described. Lithium ion battery technology has progressed a lot since the times when that was helpful. Also, confirming what previous posters have said, iPhone 4 will shut off the power that flows into the battery when it's fully charged. The iPhone will then run off the charger's power until you unplug it. And turning it on and off completely won't harm the phone, although there's not much advantage to doing so unless you are low on battery and you need it later on.

The next Mac Mini should be fine for that. If as hoped it gets a Sandy Bridge processor it'll make the MacBook Air look terribly slow in comparison for CPU intensive tasks, especially if you put a SSD in the Mini.
As for EyeTV, the current Mini isn't as powerful as many of us would like, but I find it to be adequate. Hopefully the refresh will correct this and allow smooth playing of live sport in HDTV using progressive scan.
I think part of the issue was the 2.13 core2duo processor in the Macbook Air, but I agree that the next Mac Mini should be much more powerful. The Graphics Card will be a downgrade, but shouldn't be that much of a difference.

i actually started off with Distributed Computing in SETI. i took some astronomy classes in college and learned about SETI, and tried it out. i then learned about folding@home later, and thought - why not join a project that actually helps people, instead of looking for other intelligence. so i joined. at first. i had trouble with the folding clients (which i still do sometimes). so i stopped after some problems. but i got a new computer, and tried again.
now i have a few computers that are pretty capable for folding

Nice noob response. :p Anyone who regularly listens to music uses playlists and rotates the music from their computer to their iPods. At any one time, no one is going to listen to their entire 20GB worth of music. They are more likely to use smart playlists and shuffle among them.

Hit the "Capture Now" button, end your capture with "esc.".
It should ask you to name the clip.
You could always "Import" the "Media" folder of iMovie captures too - I primarily use this when I'm capturing analog video that lacks a timecode that FCX can use.

i have one and their color clarity and crispness is better than the new cinema displays and is definetely one of the best on the market. Recommended.
I need to buy a monitor for a powerbook and saw a few companies selling new, in the box 17" Apple Studio Displays online. The price is about $450. I have always loved the look of that monitor, but am wondering how well they stack up with today's monitors. In addition, I believe for the same price I could get 19" - so I am torn. You can speculate about the superdrive, but don't even think the longshoremen are being even remotely reasonable! My cousin in NY is one and I agree with him when he says they are the living example of a way-too powerful union out of control. They push and bully till they get what they want. He makes $190,000 to operate a crane. That is INSANE. That same job in any other construction venue earns nowhere near as much AND there is usually very little job securtiy. The management agreed to every term of the settlement EXCEPT the singular outrageous demand that their jobs be guaranteed to never become obsolete for technology reasons. That is the craziest pie-in-the-sky demand I'v ever heard! What does that even mean?! It boils down to all these current employees having the overweening arrogance to try to ensure these nepotistic jobs for their children. They are the blue collar equivalent of major league baseball players. They're greedy and shameless instead of grateful for essentially winning the lottery, and that mentatlity will create their own downfall.
